Poor Service, No Apologies. PLEASE READ TO THE END
We are quite impressed with our experience at Fairouz. The restaurant has a cozy and atmospheric ambiance. The good arabic music playing in the background added to the overall vibe and created a relaxing environment.
The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the food. The kebabs we ordered had a unique flavor that we have not tasted elsewhere, and they were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting the restaurant to try them out. The overall quality of the food was high and everything tasted fresh and flavorful.
While the service was okay, we were given the wrong side dish for our main course. However, this was not a major issue, and it did not detract from our enjoyment of the meal.
Overall, we had a very positive impression of this place, and I am already planning to come back.
If you're looking for a cozy, atmospheric restaurant with great food and good music, this is definitely a place worth checking out.
That text above is my review that I left when I went to this place for the first time.
Four months later, they don't have flowers on tables anymore, but that is not an issue. Their service is an issue in itself. We went here a few times during these four months, and they were always slow to cook our order, but the last time was just a nightmare. It was an ordinary workday evening, and they were not overloaded with customers. But somehow, we were waiting for our order (for two people) for an hour! The waiter never approached us to check if we were okay or to apologize for the delay. Then we stopped him and asked about our order, emphasizing that we had been waiting for 40 minutes so far. He just stuttered quietly and said something like, "Normally it doesn't take so long," and then walked away. There were no apologies or an approximate time given. We waited another 20 minutes, unsure if we would receive anything at all. We were about to go to another place when suddenly our order arrived. Once again, no "sorry" was said.
At this point, we were very upset and didn't enjoy the food, despite the fact that it was okay. When we asked for the bill, the waiter casually told us that the tea was not included because we had waited for so long. He then disappeared with the credit card for another 20 minutes.
😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the tea, I guess, but we didn't witness any verbal apologies or any other means of expressing care for customers from the staff. The way he mentioned the tea was not really respectful, and it gave us the feeling that if we had just waited in silence, our wait time wouldn't have mattered to them.
It feels drastically unfair and upsetting because when we first came here, the owner of the restaurant approached us several times to ask if we enjoyed the meal, had small talk with us, and even gave us a complimentary dessert. He then asked us to give them a good review, and of course, we did it, like anyone else. That's why you can see so many good reviews here. But now we have a feeling that as soon as they received enough good reviews, they don't care about the quality of service anymore.
It's a common phenomenon for a place to be excellent just after opening but to decline over time. In the case of Fairouz, its downfall (at least for us) took only four months. We will not be visiting this...
Read moreThe most negative surreal experience when walking to a shisha cafe...ever...in the whole world. Made a reservation and walked into the cafe. Lady who looked like the manager/owner said she did not know our reservation and did not even go to the reservation book to check. The place was less than half empty and they had more than 4 staff so we asked if we could sit anywhere available and she said yes.
So we sat down, got our menus and decided what to eat and shisha. And we waited. And waited and waited. Meanwhile two members of staff were by the cash machine talking and two others were serving a table with two people. Why?!! We were just so ignored and invisible, it was an insult to any level of humanity. And looking at the menu, everything was SO SO expensive compared to other cafes (about 20% more), with the exception of their fruit drinks which was about the current average. Putting a tablecloth on a table to add a bit of class to justify the price hike in the menu was laughable. And oh yes, they added service charges automatically regardless of group size AND stated they will charge extra for credit card fees! What?!!! Absorb the credit card fees in the menu costs for goodness sake! Don't insult your customers this way! This is not a government office and this is no longer the 1980's!
This is a mom and pop cafe with little or no experience trying to be something it can't hope to achieve. A professional establishment with a service level to match it's prices. Staff have obviously no training (lock your customers down immediately with drink/shisha order!!!!) and no ability to run a well staffed shift, even when it's half full. God help us all if this was a Friday night rather than a weekday afternoon. I truly hope it gets bought out by someone who knows what they are doing as it does have potential in the right hands.
If you want to try your luck and try it, go ahead. Best that can happen is great service and shisha to overpriced food. Worst that can happen is what happened to us. We just walked out and drove to another shisha cafe that had it's service standards already in place by people who knew what they were doing. There are plenty of...
Read moreAfter the 4.7 ratings I suggested this restaurant to my friends to celebrate our iftaari despite having some reservations on the hookah lounge not being separated and the lack of a non smoking dinning area. We ordered two dishes and an appetizer. The food was like any standard Mediterranean grill platter. The Lamb dish with bell peppers was not as described on the menu it was a stew and the lamb meat was not juicy but rather tough. No one ended up enjoying this dish. It did not taste freshly made and it felt as if it was just reheated and served to us. Do not recommend that dish that was on the chefs special Once I requested the bill I found it odd that there were small extra charges to each item which was different than the price noted in the menu. At the bottom of the receipt there are two payments once is a cash price and two is a price if we pay with credit card or debit card. I requested the manager as the server explained there was an extra fee to pay for using card which was not noted anywhere on a menu or prior to ordering. I asked why and the manager / owner responded a lot of restaurants are doing this. This practice is one unethical. A paying customer should not have to pay 5-6 dollars or an extra fee for using card. This is actually against Texas law. After some back and forth on this practice the owner reluctantly adjusted the bill. I will not be returning. Please see this below for anyone unfairly charged at any restaurant that charges you extra for using your card. Please pay attention as this small amount adds up in the end and when owing a business ethical practices are really important. Sec. 604A.0021. IMPOSITION OF SURCHARGE FOR USE OF CREDIT CARD (a) In a sale of goods or services, a seller may not impose a surcharge on a buyer who uses a credit card for an extension of credit instead of cash, a check, or a similar means of payment. To the owner: if you want to charge extra be upfront about it please so people aren't deceived at the end by a few extra dollars like...
