I love eating here.

As a traveler who comes to Duluth regularly I always have 1-2 trips planned to dine here. As mentioned in some other reviews, this place does not have ''rustic' Japanese decor but is clean, wheelchair friendly and has excellent service.

This is a small family run operation and the owners are very personable and attentive to the clients. Even their young son will often visit your table to say hi.

Now for the food... I love sushi so I am always on the hunt for good/great places to eat. I was introduced to sushi at one of the finest places in Perth, Western Australia (Matsuri) and have never looked back. These early experiences set the benchmark for me and I am always comparing new places to it.

Sushi Mio in John's Creek is one of those that passes the bar (easily). They have some of the best sashimi, in generous proportions, for a great price, that I have ever had. In particular the white tuna sashimi and the Unagi sushi are divine. The specialty rolls are great, as are the salads, miso and other sides. Excellent Japanese beer tops it all off.

Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior and stark interior of this excellent eatery. Focus on the food and the service and you'll enjoy as much as I always do.

Cheers...

I can't talk about the taste of the food. Just a very disappointing waste of 15 minutes. I got there a few minutes before 2:30. I was going to order take out sushi. It can be difficult to find a place open between lunch and supper.

It took me about 5 minutes to figure out what I wanted. We were going to get appetizers and lunch sushi combos.

So I go back up to order and give him my appetizer choices and then the lunch combos. But he told me I couldn't get the lunch items. I told him I was there by 2:30. He wouldn't budge. I said never mind and he didn't mind me walking out.

I drive that route 2 times a week and would love to find a place for sushi lunch but I guess not there. I'll always hit that 2:30 mark. Maybe I could call an order in?

Thank you to the owner for explaining. The person at the counter did give me a lunch menu but did not explain I had 5 minutes to use it. Thank you for letting me know I can call a lunch order in. You are on the right side of the road going home, so that part is...

Came here at 2:30 and the doors were locked but the hours say 3pm they would not open to service me even though they were not closed per hours on door. I just wanted to order sushi to go. If they’re close at 2:30 then the hours posted on the door and on google should reflect that because I drove over here just to order to go because they were the closet sushi place that still had open hours before dinner. It’s very unfortunate that the chef or Owner decided to look at me rather than open to communicate with kindness of their different hours. Might I add it was patrons inside eating. The light for open was still lit up as well. Poor first experience won’t be back but I’m sure he won’t mind be because I wasn’t welcomed...

I ordered 1 falcon roll, 1 red dragon roll, and 1 classic roll along with 1 agedashi tofu, totaling out to 70$ with a 15% tip to go. For the price, I found the quality to be a bit lackluster. The idea behind the sushi was decent but I found it to be lacking flavor, and some pieces were cut extremely thick for some reason. Furthermore the agedashi tofu had an oddly bitter flavor as if the frying oil had not been changed in a while, in addition to being completely soggy (although this could be attributed to the styrofoam takeout container). The presentation was good apart from the oddly bluish green wasabi, and the service was fast, friendly and professional.

Ate there yesterday on the recommendation of a family member and had the chicken katsu bento with nigiri. The katsu was great and the sushi was good and tasted fresh. However, inside there is a noticeable funky smell like rotting garbage or something. Wouldn't want to dine in again, but the food was good enough I went back today for a to go order of chicken teriyaki. It was horrible. There was very little chicken and all in small pieces. Mostly carrots and a little broccoli swimming in a bowl of brown, watery, oily juice. You couldn't call it sauce. Very disappointing.

Sushi tasted off. I ordered three rolls for takeout. I took one bite of salmon, and it tasted like an old, dirty aquarium. I couldn’t eat any of it after that and had to throw it all away. The restaurant wouldn’t refund the sushi order—just the single roll. The chef said he just cut the fish that day. Maybe they just use a bad supplier. I also ordered chicken teriyaki, and that was fine (and I had no problem paying for it). Update: they never actually refunded any of it. Just they we’re going to then never did.
