The 40-minute drive I made from my home to the Johns Creek location was absolutely worth it and has raised the bar so much that it has ruined my experience here in Saudi. The food at Shawarma Press was exceptional, as was the service.

My wife and I went there on a date because of all the amazing reviews and we weren’t disappointed. My wife got Tandoori chicken while I got a beef one and both were packed with delicious flavor with the right mix of spices. We also shared an order of 5 pieces of falafel and hummus which rivaled anything I find here in KSA.

While the food was delicious, another highlight of the experience was our delightful encounter with the GM, a young lady named Shahed. She was sitting at one of the tables in the corner doing some work but seemed to have one ear peeled at all times listening to the orders of walk-in customers. More than once I saw her get up to make sure the customer got what they needed. (Also, as an aspring non-native Spanish speaker myself, I was a bit envious of her when I heard her speak what sounded like fluent Spanish to her staff who also seemed quite pleasant.) We later learned that this young lady was an elite pastry chef who had previously worked at the St. Regis. I can’t wait to see what new, sweet treat she may whip up for her restaurant.

All in all, the visit had an unexpected pleasant effect. We went there assumng the food would be good but left feeling inspired. We have only one selfish recommendation at this point: put another Shawarma Press location closer to Decatur. Otherwise,...
