I took my family here to get dinner, excited to spend time with each other. After placing our orders, we talked about our day and waited for what we thought would be good food. One of my family members ordered a cesar salad and when it got to the table, the lettuce was wilted (for the small amount that there was) there was cheddar cheese, and a brown gelatinous sauce spread over the chicken that was on top. My family member was displeased as so was I, and we asked our server if she would take it back to the kitchen and have it spruced up a bit. The server began acting hesitant to satisfy this request before eventually taking it back to the kitchen. The chef returned the salad to our table with an unpleasant demeanor and placed it down in front of my family member. The salad looked to be exactly the same except for the placement of the chicken had been altered. Still unsatisfied, we requested the salad be taken away and removed from the bill. After everyone else finished up their food, I got up to pay the bill. As I got to the register, I was not only met with our server but with the chef as well. The chef began making remarks about the salad being wonderful and that everyone else loves it and has no problems with it. He began to do this in front of other customers standing by waiting for pick up. I stated that our opinion of the salad was different to his and that it didn't meet our expectations. He began to go on about the same things in a more aggressive tone while having a grin on his face. We assured him that it was up to the customer to decide whether or not the food was good, not him, and we left the building. I am completely astonished by the poor treatment that my family received. I would’ve expected that the chef would want to satisfy my family and me as customers, but we were made to feel the complete opposite. We will not return to this establishment as I will not tolerate my family being...

The current treatment for doordash customers is ridiculous. My dasher was told he could leave if waiting did not suit him. He has been at the restaurant for over 45 minutes and my food is marked as done! I called the manager who stated they have a customer vs doordash policy. You receive the same payment for a doordash customer as a walk in why alienate a customer due to a delivery service? There are currently 9 dashers waiting in line for dasher customers. 9 dashers who likely will not eat at your restaurant again. 9 customers waiting on food who also will likely not eat at your restaurant again.

1/28/23 Black Olive Response: We absolutely do not have a policy like that. I would like to know the name of the person you spoke with. I was working in the kitchen and out front last night, and I saw with my own eyes all the door dash tickets in line with the other tables in the restaurant along with the online orders placed through our system. We had about 20 doordash orders come in at once along with a full 120 person seated restaurant. I think you should think about that before you start freaking out. No one is sitting back there twiddling their thumbs, they are all working HARD and FAST to get the orders done, and it is obviously going to be a wait. If you call ANY restaurant on a Friday night expect to wait longer. I don't appreciate your review on FB trying to bring down a local small business, it's very rude. 1/28/23 Breanna Excuse me... This right here is why I will never again use your restaurant. Instead of apologizing for the treatment and taking responsibility for your employees you call me rude. What happened to customer service? All that was needed was a sorry for our lack of attention to the door...

We had the best dinner we’ve had since moving here on Saturday night at the Black Olive. Our server Austin was AMAZING! He knew the menu from the food to the bar inside and out. He was friendly and knowledgeable, exactly what I love to have in my server! Our food was EXCELLENT! It was so hot from the oven I couldn’t start eating right away, the way it should be! The guy singing and playing guitar set the perfect atmosphere! Our drinks were delicious and for the price I can’t think of a better restaurant in the country! My husband was a chef in the past, I’m usually satisfied but not ecstatic about food from most restaurants! The foot at the Black Olive was top notch! To top it off the chef came to our table! Alfredo, you are the man! We will be back and I will tell everyone how much we loved the restaurant. We had the best time and the best food with the best company! Austin, thank you for making our night so enjoyable and being right on time with everything, and just a great guy! We not wait to come back and eat again! I know it will be amazing! You guys have my vote for the best food in the tricities! Thank you again for making our experience one of the best we have ever...

Wanted a little something different for mothers day dinner, so I thought lets go to the Black Olive. I'd been to the one in Jonesborough and liked it, But I live in Johnson City Tn and we just had one open there. I had called to see if they took reservations and they said No first come first serve. They serve brunch on Sunday and opened at 10:00. We got there about 11:00 and they were getting crowded. They have seats outside but no more with an umbrella over it. I didn't want to sit in the sun so we decided to wait for a table. I kept hearing the hostess talking about reservations. But I was told they didn't take any. I was a little put off by this. After about 30 minutes the 4 of us were setted. The waitress came after about 10 minutes but since it was mothers day I knew she was busy. She took our drink and appetizer order. It a while but we enjoyed sitting and talking while we waited. Then she took our main course order. I got the Shrimp Scampi. The shrimp was good but the angel hair pasta was overcooked. And It had too much sauce in the dish. I thought they served bread with the meal but I didn't get any.
