UPDATE; in response to our complaint about running out of bagels, the owner replied that we should call ahead and order. So I did at 11:30 a.m. on a weekday. Called ahead for sesame seed bagels and they were sold out. I said that's okay, we can wait for the next batch if you make more today, and they said "no we're not making any more today."
UPDATE: We live in Tennessee now, about 15 min. from Wheelers so we like to visit 2-3X per week for our favorite sesame bagels. But it is becoming more and more frustrating as we don't arrive until at least 1pm and the choice of bagels is not good. Yesterday, 1pm and all they had was salt, asiago, and one other unpopular flavor. Third time we walked out without purchasing. I don't get it. Why can't they make more ahead? We don't always know when we're going to stop so it's not convenient for us to call ahead to SAVE or ORDER bagels. previous post):Coming from North Carolina. We have to stop and get some bagels. Plus stay for lunch! Best sandwich bagel in Johnson City!!! Service is awesome....
Read moreI love wheelers bagels ever since they have opened up, the food is wonderful! But the new staff they have hired are very slack and don’t know how to read orders. I ordered a turkey sandwhich and asked for no lettuce or tomato and for it to be toasted. I got my food and proceeded to open the bag to find a cold turkey sandwhich with lettuce and tomato and NO CHEESE, I went back to let them know they had messed the order up and so they took it back to fix it, I take it back and get in my car and open the bag to find they just threw some cheese on and never toasted and melted the cheese like I had asked previously. I was already very frustrated before and at this point I was to angry to go back in there and so I had my boyfriend go back in to ask if it could be toasted, they had to nerve to complain about how many times I went back to get an order that I PAID FOR fixed🙄 if this had only happened this one time I wouldn’t make such a fuss but this has happened several times there and I’ve become very frustrated...
Read moreFood looked great, was excited to try this place, placed our order and sat down to wait patiently for our food. The young lady preparing our bagels stepped away from the prep table and sneezed into her gloved hand. No big deal, but I witnessed her proceed to go back to work on our food without changing gloves or washing hands.
When I addressed it, they took no responsibility and acted as if no one sneezed even though the other two employees acknowledged the sneeze when it happened. Instead of changing her gloves, washing her hands or offer to remake the order, they kept refuting what I witnessed so I asked for my money back.
On my way out, the one who refunded my money proceeded to call me a liar by trying to get in a last barb of “she did not sneeze in her hands.” Like I had a personal vendetta against the employee or something. I just didn’t want to eat contaminated food, but their response was very...
