My wife's cousin came to visit us in MA from NY and she said she wanted Korean BBQ, so my wife found this place online that wasn't too far away from us. We got there for lunch around 1pm where it had a few tables but wasn't full, so they say it's down right away. First thing to point out is that they have their own parking lot, which is so much better than when you go to a place somewhere in NY or Boston and have to spend half an hour or more looking for parking. The other thing I would like to say is that they were attentive. At one point one member of our party dropped their chopsticks and without asking a server brought us another pair. And every time we wanted more food they would notice me right away raising my hand to give them the filled out sheet, and one time they just saw someone from our party trying to place the paper on the little stand they have and they came right away. So they do pay attention to you. For anyone wondering they bring you soda cans so they don't have free refills although they didn't charge me for a second one, either by mistake or cause I only had two. Also they do add a 15% tip to your bill and you can add more if you like as they are worth at least the 15% (we added another 20%) So for those that complain, you should be leaving at least 15%. I mean when they would bring us more food and notice the tray was dirty for cooking, they would change it right away. The food was amazing and I would recommend any of the spicy meats they have on the menu. They make a mess of your tray, but they taste great and they change your tray when it gets dirty. We are definitely going there again.. even though it is a 30 minute drive for us, but at least I don't have to spend that time looking for parking.

When you’re craving the sizzle of Korean BBQ, and you’re in Johnston, Sura Korean BBQ might just be your best—and only—option. Let’s start with the banchan: only four tiny side dishes? 🥲 The variety was as sparse as the Rhode Island sun in winter. We hoped for kalbi, but our server’s confused look told us that our beloved marinated short ribs had been lost in translation. Turns out, the “California style beef” is their take on it. We doubled down and ordered two servings, and let’s be honest, it wasn’t the kalbi we know and love, but it filled the void. For those unfamiliar with the art of Korean BBQ, here’s the rundown: You take a sizzling slice of meat, fresh off the grill, and wrap it in crisp lettuce. Add a dollop of ssamjang (a savory-sweet Korean sauce), a sprinkle of rice, and a side of kimchi for that kick. The result? A handheld flavor explosion that’s as satisfying as it is messy. We also asked for extra kimchi because, let’s face it, life’s too short for just one serving of fermented cabbage 🥬. Considering we’ve grilled our way across the globe—from the heart of Seoul to the windy city of Chicago—Sura doesn’t exactly blow the competition away. But, in a place where Asian cuisine options are as rare as a unicorn sighting, they’re holding the fort. Sura may be the only game in town, but they’re playing it with heart—and a very Americanized playbook. So, if you’re in Johnston and desperate for a taste of Seoul, Sura will do the trick, just don’t expect to be transported across the Pacific 🌏.

This Korean BBQ place kind of confused me. It's a mix of hot pot and DIY hibachi. Maybe all Korean bbq places are like this. My biggest issue is that if you've never been, you're kind of in the dark. Otherwise it's definitely more of an experience than eating. Don't get me wrong. The food was really good. Even if it's a little unexplained. You pay per person for unlimited food. There's 2 menus. One is slightly more than the other price wise. You get to order as many things as you'd like off this menu. Infront of you is a skillet under a gas burner. Raw food is brought out. You cook it and enjoy. It is worth noting, despite being all you can eat and order. They will charge you for any ordered food that goes uncooked/unconsumed. Which I think is absurd. It can't be all you can eat but be penalized for not eating it. The service was alright. I feel like they could've come by a little more often and explained a tad bit more how everything worked. That being said it was good food and a fun experience. It is a little pricey to me. I don't normally go to buffets because I don't eat a lot. So they get their money more than I get my food. This place was similar. Overall I would recommend it. I just wouldn't go again and only because the price per person vs what I consume is majorly off.

This is the closest thing to authentic Korean dining I've experienced since living in Korea when I was 10 years old!! You order the seasoned meat you want and they bring it to your table (raw) to cook on the grill at the center of the table. All I wanted was Bulgogi and lettuce leaves to wrap them in--like I was used to eating. It's so hard to find a restaurant that provides both of those things. Sura Korean BBQ was happy to provide the lettuce leaves when I asked, and when I also asked for garlic to grill alongside the meat they brought out shaved garlic cloves (just like the restaurants in Korea!) There is a choice between cooked white rice and what they call "purple rice." I went with purple rice because it's a fun color. I can't taste any difference. They even had a variety of side dishes (two types of kimchi, pickled radish chopped long and thin like spaghetti noodles, ginger salad, and tasty bean sprouts) to partake while waiting for the meat to be brought out. I'm so happy to have found this place!

Fair warning: we needed a bit of an orientation before placing our order. We arrived at the restaurant after the busy hours, so the waitress didn't seem to feel rushed when explaining the menu to us. There's a difference between ordering All-You-Can-Eat (starting at $25 per person) and ordering a selection (recommended serving of 2 people) and we were confused at first until she explained. (Our server was Grace and she was very kind and helpful and knowledgeable) She kept coming back to the table to help us cook the meat. (Other servers would stop by as well to stir the meat and refill our drinks)

The drinks offered were bottled, and I didn't see diet options on the menu. I just went with water. The table has metal chopsticks and a metal spoon at each setting when you arrive, but if that intimidates you the staff offered forks very quickly. Overall, we LOVED this restaurant and will definitely bring back...

Sura has won our family's business for as long as we live here and they remain open. Our first experience there was a couple of months ago, when a family member was visiting from out of town and wanted to do karaoke. We decided to get our family together and reserve a room for dinner and singing.

The service and food was so top notch, my adult daughter reserved a room again for her birthday celebration with friends earlier this month. Last night, we decided to have a meal at a regular table for supper and enjoyed the buffet-style offering.

My daughter has several life-threatening food allergies (milk, egg, nuts) which normally makes it impossible to eat out due to cross-contamination concerns and/or staff not being well-informed or not taking it seriously enough. As a result of this, she had not been out to eat in a restaurant for several years. If she were attending a gathering at one, she would eat a large meal first or snack in the car and only get drinks at the restaurant. At our first visit to Sura, she was not planning to eat anything at all but when asked by a staff member why she wasn't and explaining the situation, the staff member told us that they could cook her something safe in the kitchen and that their food items didn't contain her more serious allergens.

Sura has really outdone themselves in making my daughter (and by extension, the rest of the family) feel safe and confident. It's really something so simple to others but to us it's truly life-changing to finally have a place that she can go out to eat with other people together. Beyond this, the staff is so kind and attentive, and they even remembered my daughter when we came in for dinner last night. We will be back frequently, our business is more than well-deserved. Thank...
