So the food is delicious, and isn’t unreasonably priced. The problem is their absurd cash only policies. It’s one thing to inconvenience your customer base by not accepting credit cards—that’s already sketchy enough on its own and screams dishonesty. If you make the mistake of going into this restaurant with a group of people or with coworkers, the manager is too lazy to accept separate cash payments for each respective entree at the register and provide accurate change. So essentially, if you do not happen to have the exact cash amount on your person, for your dish, they will not give you change. If your dish is $10 and you have $20, they won’t give you your $10 change. The twenty is counted toward the group payment. The manager, and I quote, “expects 1 person to cover the entire bill.” That is the most ridiculous and lazy business practice I have ever seen. A business worth it’s salt, ought to accommodate customers by providing change. If I am providing the cash (and I don’t mean $100s for $25 food bills) because I am already inconvenienced (I have to pay a bank charge to eat there if I use their atm, and they don’t provide change and they openly don’t give a damn). So, the food isn’t expensive, but their incompetence and unwillingness to do good business is. A place worth it salt, better be able to reciprocate by providing change to each customer. It literally requires a calculator and providing some change. Check it as many time as you need to, good thing math only has one right answer. The manager doesn’t want to do that, and it’s incompetence. I will go somewhere that is honest, transparent, doesn’t seem to want to get over on people so that they may or may not lie about the revenue brought it—a place that actually has the means to do...
Read moreStaff was very prompt to ask us what we wanted to eat. We hadn’t even looked at the menu yet. We had never been to this restaurant, not like we were regulars. We were still looking and I think the server got done asking he approached about 3 times in under 10 minutes. Finally he never came back. A lady then took out order and when my husband asked if the rice had corn in it (he cannot eat corn kernels) she said yes so we asked for a side of rice so he could pick the kernels out himself and asked her not to add it to the burrito thinking it had corn. We got our burritos and the rice had no corn in it, and the burrito had rice in it. She didn’t have the right information of the food offered and didn’t make not to not put rice into the burrito. If my husband had bit and ate the corn kernels he could have had a digestive flare up. He can eat corn products but not the kernels due his digestive illness. Luckily there was no kernels, but we unnecessarily ordered the side of rice. Also we were not given forks. I know that burritos don’t require utensils but when the fillings fall out it’s nice to have something to pick up food with instead of your fingers. Also nothing to grab the pickled carrots with. We did use our fingers. I don’t know the food was decent, flavor was decent but once the food was served and bill slapped on the table I felt forgotten about. I felt the service...
Read moreThe food was amazing, I highly recommend the Al Pastor! Also don’t be afraid to ask for suggestions as they make great recommendations on drinks and food.
You can tell the owner Scottie is very passionate and hands-on about this restaurant. Not only did I see him going table to table greeting guest individually but the cleanliness of the restaurant inside and outside showed the level of care they put into not only the food but the place as a whole. Scottie was on top of everything helping his staff, and making sure everyone was having a great experience at his restaurant. It was refreshing to see an owner who cares and strives to do better in the restaurant business. He is a very personable person who believes in having face to face conversations with his customers.
This is a gem in the area of Joliet. Sure there is plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area but not with the level of service you’ll receive here. I applaud Scottie for being one of the best restaurant owners I’ve seen in a...
