I’ve eaten at Theos for many years. When I first started eating at Theos the service and food was better than anyplace around. Unfortunately that has changed. In the past year or so the service has dropped off and the food is very hit and miss. One day the pizza is excellent, and the next day it could taste worse than a 2 year old Red Barron pizza your grandmothers 30 year old oven over cooked on the top, and under cooked on the bottom. The salads also look like they were poured out of the bag and stacked on each other in bowls for days on end. However my last few visits have inspired me to write this review. It is becoming more and more common to have to wait 60+ minutes for your food. Then when you receive it it’s not even “right out of the oven” hot so you know it’s been sitting on the counter for a while. The most disappointing thing is the last 2 or 3 times I ate at Theos there may have been a total of 20 people in the restaurant eating so the kitchen wasn’t slammed. Also the waiting staff has seemed to become less interested in serving the customers. You will be lucky if you see your waiter or waitress more than 3 times your entire meal. That includes taking your order and bringing your food. This isn’t every waiter or waitress there, but unfortunately it is a overwhelming majority. They also seem to have adopted an attitude of “I have other places to be” when they face the customer. This isn’t totally unique to Theo’s. It seems to be a trait of this area.
Once again it really kills me to write this review. Theo’s use to be the place EVERYONE wanted to be. It was always a Pre-football game Post church ritual. The pizza was killer and you couldn’t beat the manicotti or the wings. Those days seem to have passed. I really hope they get it together in the future. Until then I’m sorry to say I wont be returning.
I hope this review is taken seriously. Most of the previous faithful customers I have talked with seem to share the same...
Read moreMy brother and I were visiting the area for the first time. First impressions: the interior design is beautiful and feels like something straight out of Italy. I love the murals on the wall and the Roman statues. However, the music was quite awful, mainly pop and what sounded like 80s tunes, not something I’d want to hear in an Italian restaurant. It kind of ruined the atmosphere. I must give a shout out to our waitress who was probably the sweetest server I’ve ever encountered, but I can’t remember her name at this point. :( A young lady with long blonde hair in braids. She was trying so hard to make sure we were taken care and satisfied with everything. I would return just because of her exceptional service. As for the food, my brother ordered vegetable lasagna and I the shrimp scampi. The lasagna was delicious. But my shrimp scampi had no lemon or garlic flavor whatsoever, it was just extremely greasy pasta with shrimp. I honestly felt sick after eating most of it. It tasted like the chef didn’t try. Shrimp scampi is usually my favorite dish, so for $18, this was a real let down. Even the garlic bread that came with our meals was gross. It tasted like a store bought cheap loaf of white bread with some butter and seasonings slapped on the outside. The excellent service made up for the food, and I am willing to go back and give Theo’s a second try. But as an Italian myself, it’s painfully obvious that this place is run by Carolinians and...
Read moreI'm sorry to say that I will never return to this place again. My wife and I have a "Day Date" every week and we decided to try this place. After being seated at our table, the waiter only brought one menu. Because I was undecided on what to order, I requested a second menu so my wife and I both could study the menu options at the same time. The waiter responded by saying "They wont let me pass out more then one menu at a time unless it is a party of four or more." In my 53 years of dinning out, we have never been to a restaurant that refused to provide two menus for two people. Out of respect for my wife, I bit my tong and did not say anything. To be honest, it was very hard not to say, THERE ARE PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS THAT WOULD BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE TWO MENUS SO I AM GOING TO TAKE MY MONEY TO A PLACE THAT WOULD APPRECIATE IT. Out of respect for my wife, I gave her the menu to study while I sat there trying to imagine what might be on the menu and decided to request the Veil Parmesan. Again I was very disappointed because it was VERY bland with little to NO flavor. The only good thing that I can say is they did give a healthy portion and I was able to carry enough home for a second meal even though I had to add spices, cheese etc to make it remotely enjoyable. I sincerely hope anyone else going to this place has a better experience...
