I was pretty excited to try these guys out after seeing them on Guys Best Bite! I ordered a role, the Julia role. Its crab avo and salmon topped with lemon. The wait was longer than anticipated, but at the same time, I could see how busy they were. It would have been nice if someone would have kept me updated. It was around a 30 min+ wait, versus the 10-15 they had said. Not that big of a deal, things like that happen. When I did get my order I tipped said thanks and got out the door. I was already running a bit behind, my own fault for stopping and getting food unplanned, but I was hungry and driving right by!
I got roughly half way home and decided to eat a piece of the roll. It was SMOKED salmon! Much to my dismay. I was confused, I took some time when I got to a safe place to stop to make sure I had not made a mistake. Nope, it was supposed to be regular salmon. I called the shop and they offered to remake it for me right away but I was over half way home by this point and we live a good 30 minutes away. They said NO PROBLEM!! We will put your name here that you are owed a new Julia roll, just tell them. So this past Wednesday I called in a Julia roll and a Charlie roll. No issues with either, this time food was very quick and I was excited to try both!
The fish was fresh, the rolls were well made and I cannot wait to go back. The experience was overall great. They really did care that a mistake had been made, and they made it right. I also told them that when I got home I discovered what had happened. They had started with regular salmon, ran out it seemed and finished with smoked. I wanted to be honest that part of the roll was just fine! It didn't change the fact they gave me a new one made exactly perfect. I have not eaten much sushi since I left CA. We will be back for more. I am very excited to support a great local place!
I share this whole story to shine a light on folks doing the right thing when something goes wrong - that means as a customer and the business!
My initial impression was not positive- but GOOD staff made the difference, the "we got you" attitude changed everything for me.
As I mentioned, I have had 3 rolls now and have had a hard time finding sushi as fresh as I like it since we left the coast. My opinion is that...
Read moreI went there with husband a few months ago and that was a good experience. So we took a gamble and decided to order for take out today (since their dine in option is not available). Firstly, I have a bit of a specific request with sushi, I always, always order Philadelphia roll and the salmon has to be cooked/fried. My husband spoke over the phone and specified my request. The girl who spoke on the phone assured that it can be done. When the sushi arrived, it was deep fried. That made the cream cheese and the avocado in the roll very soft and mushy, not to mention rice had no taste to it at all. Husband called the restaurant back and notified the girl about the mistake. All she did was apologize and said "she'll let the kitchen know". I might sound entitled, but .. what good is it for me? I can't eat that food and we paid good money for it. No refund? No replacement? It's not like the kitchen will remember next time not to do that. They have hundreds of customers. Also, keep in mind that if you order sushi for take out from there, then you better have some soy sauce at home, because they give you 3 little packets at most, with barely enough to lightly dip 3 rolls.
The place is getting 2 stars, because my husband was happy with his rolls, but my experience with the food ruined good part of our 3 year wedding anniversary. I probably won't order from there again. I hope they'll open a better...
Read moreI believe this visit was an off experience, so I won't give a 1 star , but I couldn't be any more disappointed in the experience I had. My mistake here was getting something other than sushi , but I was looking for a heavier meal. I got crab Rangoon and the Caveman Ramen. The worst part of this experience was service. I was put in a corner and hardly ever checked on to the point where I had to get up to ask for more drink and the check. The Rangoon and ramen were ordered at the same time, and I was honestly disappointed in both of them. The Crab Rangoon was a flavorless fried shell containing almost no crab and tons of cream cheese. The sauce served with it was almost like a sweet and sour sauce with minimal flavor to offset the massive amounts of cream cheese. However, the caveman ramen was slightly better. I think the dish had too much garlic, and I absolutely love garlic. The big rib pork was dry and seemed to have an off flavor, but the pork in the soup was ok. The noodles and the eggs in the ramen were actually really good, but the broth and main pork dragged the dish down. Like I said, I think maybe I caught this place at a bad time, so if I get a chance to go back, I would love to try the sushi and hope for a better experience. For now, I'm going to hang a 3 star so I don't drag the place down on 1 review, but in my mind, the experience was a 1 or 2 star...
