Been in the Joplin area over a decade and first time visiting a Gringo's. As I walked into the new location in Joplin, I couldn't help to think this was the mexican restaurant version of Braums. You order at the counter, find a seat and your order is brought out to you. There are 2 drive thru's at this location, both going east so the right hand drive thru line is always longer than the left hand line, as single passengers don't like yelling out their order through their passenger window. Interesting concept though, I give them that!
So I ordered the El Cheapo, as I am a cheapo and like how the daily specials are reasonably priced. My meal came with a medium drink, rice, beans, bean burrito and a hard shell taco. Portion size was ok, but what should I expect from a meal named El Cheapo. Food was well cooked but bland. I tried to spice things up with some of their Salsa del Sol Jalapeno Hot Sauce, but that was not hot whatsoever. I decided to look at the ingredients on the backside of the package and noticed the following: Manufactured Exclusively for Burger King Restaurants.
I then decided to try a dessert and ordered the Cheescake Chimmi. It definitely looked good, but the melted caramel sauce was extremely sweet. If I get this dessert again, I'll have them hold the sauce and put some whip cream on it.
Overall, Gringo's is ok. Salsa manufactured from a major Burger chain, is probably not best suited for mexican food. I could possibly order from here if in a pinch, but don't plan on visiting anytime soon.

Read moreFirst time ever trying and will definitely be my last unless they decide to make it right. I work 5 minutes away and decided to try them as I went to Taco Bell to order my usual Chipotle ranch 2 for $4 grilled chicken burritos. They said they had taken them off the menu. Decided to hop across to the newer Joplin location and try it out. Went in and ordered for the first time. Tried the super enchilada. It's literally a grease bucket. The actual enchilada is drowned in chili sauce. They must use like a small ice cream type scoop for the cheese. Taking a bite on each end was just a pile of half melted cheese. The excess cheap ingredients like tomatoes and lettuce is exactly what they bury it in to make it look bigger and better than it actually is. My bigger issue is how in the world does someplace use tostito looking chip cups to actually dump salsa into. 5 minutes back at work, salsa has caused those cups to get soggy as hell and now in the salsa! Was disappointed to not see salsa in CHEAP PLASTIC CUPS like any other establishment. Was definitely ruined in the chips and couldn't even begin to want to eat it. The little salsa I did try on a chip was less quality than the chi-chi's you can buy at a local grocery store. To spend $16.18 for what I got was definitely WAY OUTRAGEOUS. I don't see this place lasting long. On a good note, place looks really nice. Looks clean (is newer), lots of employees standing around doing nothing though. Looking like they were walking around filling up their drink cups then just doing whatever. Nice space though. Someplace will eventually...
Read moreI ordered food on 11-22-22 at about 8:10 pm at this store. I asked for additional sauce packets. The young man at the drive thru assured me that the sauces were in the bag. After I got the food home, I noticed there wasn’t any sauce at all. I went back to the store to get sauces, while my food got cold, and then practically had to force an apology out of them. I went back home a second time, and one of the triple dip shells, did not have the guacamole that was supposed to be in it, just lettuce. We called the store to complain, and when my friend asked the name of the manager she was speaking to, and the name of the owner, the manager attempted to hang up, but apparently he only thought he hung up. Not realizing he didn’t hang up, he spoke in the phone again, not realizing my friend was still on the line. My friend asked if the person she was speaking with had hung up on her, he said “I sure did” sarcastically, and then hung up. The complaints stemmed from the two visits we did in which the customer service was terrible. This is not the same quality wonderful service that Gringos has been known for, for many long years. I am very disappointed with my Gringos experience. If I was the current owner, I would be mortified at the way this business...
