Hunan Garden — Restaurant in Joplin

I thought I would try this place out for lunch and I wish I hadn't. Hands down the worst chinese buffet I have been to. The parking is extremely tight, for starters. The spaces are diagonal and double painted. There is only one lane to enter and exit, so be extremely careful when you go to leave. I was greeted when I walked in by a friendly waitress and she took my drink order. I was never once offered a refill or asked how everything was. Her and another lady seemed to be running the drive-through and tables both, as my waitress had on a headset. The place also had some very tight seating. There were several tables and booths, but in places there are tables almost on top of tables, making for some close quarters seating. The place was also rather dim and dingy. Now, for the food. Disgusting. The hot chicken was inedible in my opinion. The teriyaki chicken was also terrible. Over powering on the sweet. The only thing I had that was somewhat edible was the seasoned fried rice. Everything was barely cut and served in very large chunks, meat and vegetables alike. Even the crab rangoons tasted stale. Overall the food is bland to say the least. I will not be back and would not recommend this...

Couldn't in good conscience leave a lower star rating because the lady at the window was just so fabulouuuuus! The food however was unlike anything I have seen at any asian restaurant. The crab rangoon was awesome! That's the only positive about the food. The rice was orange with big splotches of yellow and some white patches. The chicken (chicken and mushroom)was over cooked when fresh and not fresh so almost impossible to eat. The fried rice my friend ordered (beef fried rice) looked like they took some of the batch of rice I had and drowned it soy sauce and threw some meat in it. Chicken fried rice was just like the beef. Hunan combination would've been good if the meat in it was relatively fresh. Egg rolls were super greasy and tore threw the bag before we made it 2 blocks and didnt taste good anyways. This buffet was very small set but also was not very good.. went to eat there tried a lil of everything.... nothing was good but the egg rolls .. everything was very bland.. for the people who probably do like it and think highly of it I feel are used to this type of Chinese food... But if ur from different states outside of the 4 state area I would say this is a no go... I loveee banana pudding... usually can't go wrong on it .. they proved me wrong sadly.. this is the 2nd Chinese place I've been to out here and both are not it .. I love the history of the building and the plaque that's displayed that tells the story and the waitress was nice but there were 2 and idk which one was my waitress but neither took plates till basically time to leave... To sum it up if you don't stay in the 4 state area or aren't from around the 4 states not...
