I've never had this experience from buying from Vintage Stock but they've made me have to drive 30 minutes twice now so that 1. I can have the correct series and 2. That the disc's actually work. The first attempted I ordered all 5 seasons to a series and they sent to my house, they got all but 2 seasons in there and sent 2 completely different series so I had to run from Galena area to Joplin to exchange. Now I've been watching my series and only 2nd season in and come to find one of the disc's has a huge dent in it so it's unreadable, thankfully I have only 2 days to make it in to exchange something that took 2 weeks to get. Now I have to drive back to Joplin again to exchange another one and found that several other seasons' disk have not been cleaned. Someone at the mall location is screwing up bad (I ordered through main street location but mall location is where the series was in stock )and it's not ok. I really thought vintage stock had higher expectations when reselling products. Very...
Read moreTrading card wise, they're ok. For their sealed products, like Pokemom and Yugioh, the items are pretty overpriced. Even some of their individual cards that they have displayed are overpriced. I remember asking if a price on a specific card was final, and the person working offered to look it up to see if she could give me a better deal, which was nice. The only thing that bothered me was that when she went to look the card up, they weren't sure how to or which one it was. Saying something along the lines of, "There's too many of the same card, which one is it?". Which i kinda understand. There are a lot of different rarities of the same cards in TCG. But i did lose confidence in the employees after that. If i didn't know better, they could've just given me the highest price of cards they saw and overcharged me. Overall, buy at your own risk, and be sure to know the price you're paying. The staff there are pretty friendly though, some more than others, so don't be...
Read moreVintage Stock has been an institution in Joplin for decades and is one of my favorite businesses to support. I was disappointed to see that a used PS3 console with dirty ports and grimy controller was going for $160, but I bought it anyway because I had strong trust in the company. By my next visit, they had PS4s available for only $20 more; in what world does this make sense? Everywhere I turn now, I am seeing either generation consoles for considerably less than the PS3 I purchased.
My fault for not checking elsewhere? Sure, but their reputation is what made me skip that in the first place. Now I fear they are using their reputation to squeeze as much money out of loyal customers as they can. I will not consider VS for any more electronics purchases.
However they continue to be a bastion for physical media in the age of streaming and subscriptions, and for that reason I will not lose faith in...
