The Smoking Crab and Seafood Co — Restaurant in Joplin

My boyfriend and i got off of work early today and opted to go to The Smoking Crab’s new location in Joplin. We have been trying to go for weeks but we just haven’t been available while they’ve been open.

We arrived and the staff were so friendly, recommending us the best option for what we were looking for. They said it would be 20 minutes (which is really quick compared to other made-to-order seafood places.)

We sat down and a few minutes later they said they had a mixup and it would take an extra five to ten minutes. We weren’t shocked because, like i said, twenty minutes is quick.

Shortly after, Ryan and Brittany came to our table and let us know they would be giving us extra drinks at well as a few extra crab clusters.

Long story short, we were given double our meal, extra drinks, and offered our next meal free! We only had to wait 20 minutes!

We have tried so many seafood places, traveling up to three hours or more to do so! No longer tho! Ryan and Brittany are some of the sweetest people and so kind. We will definitely be going back, even after our free meal! I 100% recommend Smoking Crab’s...

I think for the area, the food is pretty good. You can definitely taste the food is frozen, but living in the Midwest we cant expect it to be straight off the boat. The shrimp was okay the corn was a little over cooked. The potatoes were pretty tasty. The crab was a solid 7 out of 10. I definitely would go back to try out the fried fish and shrimp to see if it's better or if they were having a bit of an off day. I don't think I will eat inside though. It's tiny and the hostess isn't very welcoming. We felt more like a bother to her. She lacked a welcoming presence and maybe is burnt out if I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. The crab leg crackers were too big to actually crack all of the crab; they need to buy smaller ones. There didn't appear to be any table service, or maybe that's because we didn't tip when we ordered (wanted to see what the actual service was first). Silver ware would be a nice touch. I truly can’t explain just how good this place is! As soon as we walked in the sweet girl at the register was very quick to help us figure out the menu / seasonings / butter, and etc. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to handle the Cajun so I was asking her questions, and she encouraged me to try it and said she thought I’d for sure be able to handle it. (Great news - she was right!) I’m a very white person that can’t handle spice 😂 so take it from me, the Cajun IS FANTASTIC and I highly recommend it! I got Cajun on all of my stuff, and my husband got Cajun on all of his stuff except the lobster tail. He got lemon & pepper on the lobster tail and it was incredible. As for their catfish, it was some of the best catfish I’ve ever had and I will DEFINITELY be coming back. 10/10 they’re incredible and you need to try them!!
