I’m shocked that this place has as many stars as it does. It has me wondering if all the reviews are written by friends and family versus actual customers.

The food was expensive, tasted like day two cafeteria food that had been sitting out, and the service was poor.

We ordered two of the shrimp omlette which were plasticky and lacked flavor. There was no effort to add seasoning or even whisk the eggs so it was blended) and the shrimp they used was definitely not what they were advertising. These were the smallest shrimp I’ve ever seen; they were no bigger than a fingernail and seemed like they could have been dehydrated or ordered in a can. They weren’t even incorporated into the egg, just lazily thrown in plastic-like shell of egg and like the cheese was lazily sprinkled around.

We also ordered chocolate chip pancakes and strawberry and cream pancakes… you can’t mess this up, right? WRONG. They brought out two plain pancakes then took them back, put some chocolate chips on top on one and legit SPREAD STRAWBERRY JAM (like Smuckers) and put whipped cream on top.

We also got a clam chowder that they said was “homemade,” but tasted like bacon chowder out of a can. No clams. Thick cream. Just no.

We also had a basic egg, toast, and bacon breakfast which was whatever. No flavor or quality to anything.

The total meal cost $77 which would have been fine if we weren’t paying for trash. All of this could have been made at home far better and for far less. We went to Deckhand Dave’s for dinner and it was less than this and a million times more amazing!

On top of it, this place seemed outdated and dungey. I wish I followed my gut reaction to leave upon arrival and review of the menu, but I thought “Hey! Maybe this is a cool local joint.” It just felt like a scam.

I would give this 0...

Delicious Filipino home cooking in a cozy atmosphere, worth a detour off the beaten path!

I read about Valley Restaurant in an Eater article on Filipino/Tlingit cooking that said this is the best place to try the Alaskan style of home-cooked chicken adobo. Let me tell you I was not disappointed!

It was a chilly, rainy day and the meal began with a super comforting arroz caldo that felt like a warm hug. This was followed by our order of lumpia that were perfectly crispy and not greasy.

Then came the main event: the chicken adobo and fried rice. The chicken has to be some of the best I have ever eaten. Cooked on the bone and bathed in tangy broth, It could not have been more tender and juicy. I went for the upgrade to the fried rice with the meal and it was also excellent.

My partner ordered the Chinese noodles without meat. It was a steamy bowl of tasty broth, noodles, and bok choy. Another perfect choice for a chilly day!

The restaurant itself is more or less the sort of roadside diner I grew up with. Booth seating and a big breakfast menu. A stuffed bear greets you at the door.

This is a true locals joint and everyone is friendly. The chef/owner came out and talked to everybody. She beamed with the deserved pride of bringing such pleasure to her friends and patrons.

All in all Valley Restaurant is well worth the detour off you're passing through Juneau and heading out for a hike at Mendenhall Glacier.

If I find my way back to Juneau, I will make it my goal to come back to...

Well I’m bummed to say that today will be the last time I give valley restaurant my business. I’ve loved going here for years but today my co worker and I called in a to go order and I dared to ask a question about wether or not there was jalapeños in my order and I was told by the owner herself that she was “ too busy to answer questions, do you want to place an order or not” my coworker then call to place her order for a blt and was trying to let her know she just didn’t want Mayo on the BLT and the owners response was annoyed and she kept repeating that she was too busy and basically rushing her order, the owner then decided to just hang up on her. We went in to pick up our orders to find that she never even placed the Blt order and accused my coworker of hanging up on her. I explained my frustration on the lack of quality customer service I received and how terrible we were treated as paying customers but the owner didn’t care and proceeded to say that she doesn’t care and that we should leave and how she doesn’t care to lose our business. I am greatly disappointed and as someone who works in customer service daily and understands how important it is for businesses in this town to strive I would advise the owner to practice better customer service skills as for that alone can greatly effect her business...

What a wonderful family restaurant! We had Chicken Fried Steaks and ordered an appetizer of onion rings. Way more than we could eat and delicious! Our water glasses never got more than half empty before they were refilled. The onion rings were a little too big and greasy for me but the meal, salad abd garlic toast were wonderful. And it's within walking distance of the Best Western where we stayed.

Dry bacon, cold ham, and they didn’t even toast my bread. My cat wouldn’t even eat the food. My change was 8 dollars and the lady took her own tip and gave me three dollars. If your looking for a good place for breakfast nearby donnas has amazing breakfast and polite staff so don’t waste your money coming here it’s not worth it. I’m actually so grossed out by the food I was given. 🤢
