UPDATE: 09/06/24 for lunch at about 12PM My mom and I decided to come back to give one of our most beloved restaurants another try after the bad encounter written below, while I don’t agree with the owners comments below I will say Tiffany took great care of us , greeted us with smiles upon walking in and was very attentive and nice. Our chicken wrap and hummus was of course delicious, so flavorful and fresh. I am very happy to hear the old GM we had the bad encounter with was no longer there when we asked.
I am writing this review in hopes the owner or other management sees this…
My family & I have been coming to this restaurant for 10 YEARS+, we have always loved the food, normally we get take out. The chicken wrap is sooo delicious & also the fresh hummus.
The reason I gave 1 start right now was because of the service on 03/13/24 my mom & I decided to dine in this time, in which we had a TERRIBLE interaction with the blonde waitress/“manager” with blonde hair at about 11:30AM.
Upon opening the door, I am greeted by the host with a smile, while the waitress/“manager” is stuffing her face with soup & bread to where she couldn’t even greet me because her mouth was FULL of food at the FRONT counter of the restaurant. Not sure if the chick was hangry & didn't want to be at work, but our interaction went down hill from there.
We asked to be seated outside for a table for 2. When we walked outside, my mother chooses a 4 top table because the other 2 top tables were not completely shaded under the umbrellas. When our waitress / "manager" came out to greet us there was no "how are you guys doing,” no smile, or "welcome in" just a very rude comment saying she wanted us to sit at a 2 top table because they are going to get very busy soon…… girl, there was nobody there except for 2 people inside… & no one else insight running to the door. But ok, I explained the other 2 top tables were not shaded, & that we’d like to be under the shade. So she takes apart the 4 top table, & upon doing so I notice the solo table became very wobbly, & asked if there was something she could put underneath it… (I am a previous waitress and know MANY tricks to stop a table from being wobbly not very hard task), she replies in a rude, annoyed & UNACCOMMODATING tone saying verbatim, "well why don’t you try this table instead because I don’t know where the stuff is to fix it right now.” at that point I was so upset at the service I said “ACTUALLY, we’re going to get up & leave because I’m not going to deal with this type of attitude & service,” she then replies saying “you have an attitude.” HAHA, this is your job, if you don’t find joy in serving & accommodating, then maybe you should get another job.
I was genuinely upset because we have supported this establishment since I was a teenager & I am now a young adult, service is subpar to say the least but the food is good. Can’t say we’ll be back anytime soon because clearly our business was not welcome after all...
Read moreHidden jewel, GOOD FOOD, GOOD DRINKS. Simple... The Chilean Sea Bass is the bomb. I'm usually not a risotto fan, but love theirs. Please don't ever take this off the menu! I actually got cravings for it 3 times in the past week & a half. Ordered it for take out and it did not disappoint. Good portions, & Drink Specials. Buy one get one, and the ingredients are always fresh. Family style/for the table available, on several dishes. Of course child friendly, but honestly? The small intimacy of the outside seating is best for adults, who wish to relax & take a break. Our "go too" for Sunday Brunch. Also a perfect spot after the beach. Casual, quiet, and "chill", very mellow & relaxing place. Recommendation for Cafe Sole? Go! But leave the kids at home & enjoy some adult time! added 5/25/2021 - I've added picture's from our last visit on Saturday. I've seen some negative reviews posted in several places. That being said, I do not personally know the owner. We've met him a few times. Every time we've seen him? He's been nothing but an absolute pleasure. I am a woman, & a minority. As a past restaurant owner/operator & Chef. As well as a past Consultant/ management evaluation expert, in the New York Tri-State area. I will say, sometimes you just can't please everyone. Running a restaurant especially now, dealing with the public is sometimes difficult to say the least. Everyone handles their business as they see fit. As a local business? My family will continue to support Café Sole' & we're happy to do so. The waitstaff and owner have been nothing but wonderful & grateful each time we've visited this establishment....
Read moreHorrible. I should have complained about my meal but after the reaction that my husband experienced with having to send his Salmon back I just kept quiet. 1st - my husband never calls the waiter over to complain. He got the Salmon. The bottom was burnt and it tasted smokey. He gave me a piece and it was terrible. We called the waiter over and then it was either the Owner or manager that did take the Salmon back to bring him another piece. In the mean time, my husband was extremely hungry so he started eating the spinach and rice. Both had good taste but the rice was cold and the spinach was just warm. When the Owner or manager came back, my husband told him about the cold rice and spinach and just to forget the Salmon and to please take it off our bill. Instead of saying, I am sorry, the Owner or Manager said, well you ate them both. I told him, of course, because my husband was hunger. and we were not going to have time to stop and get something else to eat. VERY BAD! and the dinner meals are expensive. I got the Scallops with the Ricotta. It was tasteless and the risotto was hard (like it wasn't cooked totally). I finished the 5 scallops and part of the ricotta because I was hunger!
Normally, I do not write reviews and if the Owner or manager had had a different attitude, then I would not have written this one. He did take the Salmon off our bill. and they did give my husband a new piece of salmon to take with us. However, we left it on the table because it...
