OK, this crew is going to do well. Firstly, rule number one for all old school bar keepers is to always greet/acknowledge guests as soon as they enter weather you are busy or not. A+ here as the gentleman behind the bar warmly greeted everyone that entered the establishment. So I immediately felt welcome and appreciated. Secondly, the selection of spirits available is definitely adequate though not necessarily impressive in terms of multiples within a spirit category. However, (and this is the best part) this gentleman behind the bar has created and excellent cocktail menu. Items on the menu seem familiar, but they have created small twists that add an extra layer of complexity that is so delicious. Also, this gentleman behind the bar has no problem what so ever going off menu to create the proper cocktail experience for any cocktail snob. I noticed that other customers commented how good the Irish Coffee is. 100% no exaggeration. The hot and cold contrast easily contributes to why their Irish Coffee is the best I've ever had. And finally the food menu. It's a small menu. And if my lunch is any indication of the other menu items, everything will be delicious. I had the burger and fries with a cheese sauce that was so creamy and delicious I just wanted to drink a water glass full of it. Evidently the owners are from Minnesota so the cheese deal is definitely on point. Burger was a was a wagyu 70/30 (or the like) smash burger. So definitely not dry. Bun was fresh and the pickles nice and crunchy. Definitely putting this establishment in the rotation. Also, no...
Read moreHap & Hooch, created by Cassidy & Dan, offers an exceptional experience with elevated cocktails and delectable cuisine. The atmosphere is inviting, and the owners exemplify the friendly, down-to-earth spirit of the Midwest, demonstrating a genuine passion for the quality of their offerings.
As a personal favorite, I can attest that the crispy chicken wings are outstanding. The Hooch Sauce perfectly satisfies my cravings, and for those who enjoy a bit of heat, I recommend requesting a side of their in-house hot sauce, which features a delightful kick with Hooch added in. A perfect pair with one of my favorite beers 'Fresh', which is served cold off the tap.
Their daily happy hour from 2-6 PM features $2 off ALL menu items, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore this promising establishment. Be sure to check out their other specials as well, such as the "Adult Happy Meal" on Thursdays which offers a delectable Smashburger & Fries accompanied by their signature Old Fashioned for $22. As they aptly describe it, Hap & Hooch is a "5-star Dive Bar" that truly delivers on its promise.
The House Margarita recipe not only tasted delightful but also has a unique/fun/creative presentation which includes sea salt foam, really adding to the experience. And for you coffee lovers, the Irish coffee is an absolute must—crafted from an old family recipe, it’s rich and indulgent with the perfect froth on top. This one cannot be missed! Genuinely looking forward to...
Read moreCame in on a late Tuesday afternoon and it was much busier than expected. Maybe 30 people all standing and drinking, I could barely make it to the bar to place an order. Took a minute to get noticed, but there were a lot of people. Decided to try the smash burger. The high top I sat at to wait for my order was dirty and had hair on it. Food came out quickly. It was smaller than I expected and had a slight taste of some type of seafood, other than that it was fine, but not for 20 bucks (not including a drink). There was also some kind of sauce on the burger, but too little to actually taste it. The fries had some type of seasoning, but couldn't really pinpoint the flavor. Kinda reminded me of something you'd get at a bowling alley. Oh and I'm not sure what was up with the bun, but it was just weird. I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews and pictures, but I don't know. Maybe make the burger a little larger or...
