Exploring and Eating in Palm Beach

This place is sneakily good. It appears as a bar type restaurant but their food and imagination is top notch. I like it is called Leftovers and they basically have a handwritten “daily” menu because you never know what will be left over to make the next day. It was a group dinner and we shared the fish dip. This may have been the best fish dip I have had in The Palm Beach area. The chips were fresh and crunchy and the fish dip had a nice Smokey flavor to it. Also it wasn’t served super cold. Many restaurants send it out really cold and hard. Like they scooped it with an ice cream scoop and sent it out. Not this place. For dinner I went with the loaded French fry crust on black grouper. Two others went with Loaded French fry but on Tilefish and one went with Sweet Potato crust on tilefish. Mine was delicious. The portion was larger than I normally get. Everyone was very pleased with the main dish as well. Finally we all got dessert. I went with Raspberry Key Lime pie. It looked better than it tasted but it wasn’t bad. It just didn’t meet my standards of key lime pie. Someone went with the coconut banana cream pie and loved it and I can’t remember the other dessert pictured but they liked that one too. Additionally highlight. Our waitress was very nice and put up with our nonsense. She is a shorter, brunette and had some fun with us. We sat outside and the temperature was good and the spacing was perfect. Also, they won’t seat you until your whole party is there. And no reservations are taken. Fun place and would go back and highly recommend.

I’ve been wanting to come here for the longest time. I wanted to sit away from people, but in a table, not a high booth and the hostess was sweet and listened. A++. We ordered fried calamari, which had a very nice presentation. But it lacked flavor but it was cooked perfectly & not chewy. It did include a mustard sauce, which I was not a fan of even though I love mustard, My son had a burger with brisket & gave it an 8, which is good. He always plays it safe. I on the other hand like to try something different since I am a pretty good cook. I ordered the seafood bowl not realizing it was like a soup. Waitress said it was great. It came out piping hot which is nice but the seafood keeps cooking. I immediately started to take the shrimp, muscles and calamari out to the side because it is cooking in the broth. Shrimp & calamari was still a little tough but edible. What I couldn’t get over was the flavor of the broth. Something was not right. I couldn’t eat it and I hate to waste. I even took out the rice noodles and put it on the side to eat it without the broth and I couldn’t do it. It was that bad. I asked the waitress if this is the normal way it is served and she said yes. I said it’s hard for me to believe that people would enjoy this. I asked what they put in there that was sweet and funky taste. I believe it was loaded with hoisin sauce. It tasted like a bunch of soy sauce inside. Look at the dark color. Then she asked me if I want to take the food with me. I said no, I can’t eat this. I wish the waitress would’ve taken it back, but I did not get anywhere with her. Then I decided to look at the reviews when I got home and some other people who posted pictures of the same dish. I knew that the hoisin sauce was overloaded and that was the problem. Mine was very brown compared to the others who posted I even mentioned to the waitress that I think whoever makes the dish is not used to making it because it’s just not right. It would’ve been nice if she brought it up to management, but like I said she was nice I didn’t want to bother her. I’ve included the picture so you can see for yourself. Maybe if someone else makes it would be better. I would still recommend this place. I’m sure there are a lot of good dishes, but it was just my luck of choice maybe. Please note the picture number 4, 5, 6 from other reviewers. I think that’s the color it should be not overloaded with hoisin sauce. The broth tasted like a bunch of soy sauce. Mind was overloaded with hoisin sauce, which was terrible. Now that I realize what was the problem I wish I would’ve asked to have it replaced with something else. It was not edible….. The sad part is no one reads the reviews from the establishment. I paid $25 for this dish plus tax and tip that I could not even eat is sad.!!! No one gives a hoot from this business. So this review will continue to be here. I thought they would want to fix the problem. Obviously, you can see in the pictures. This was not made right.

Leftovers Cafe is an awesome dining experience! I was privileged to take a friend for her first time; at the next table were two ladies from Delray and West Palm who said it was their first time and they were already making plans to return! Well, so are we, and we will bring another friend as eating here is vastly superior to taking about eating here! We started with the fish dip and our server Ali asked if we would like a scoop of guacamole with that - well, of course! Excellent decision. Everything is freshly made including the tortilla chips - even the jalapenos were cut fresh for our order. My friend had the fish bowl - just the right amount of spice and plenty of different selections of fish in it. I had the swordfish with veggies which was delicious!!! No room for dessert - maybe next time. That dark chocolate nut mash was calling me😄 We sat outside and Ali provided the exact level of attention that we needed. Her knowledge of the menu was extensive and her enthusiasm contagious!

This is a fantastic seafood restaurant. The creativity of the menu is WAY above the prices for entrees. What a great menu. Each day they have a good variety of fish. Wahoo, swordfish, tuna, salmon, triple tail and lots of others. You pick your fish and then your coating. Sweet potato crusted. Butternut almond. Rutabaga fried garlic. Most are served on some type of greens. I had salmon for $19 and chose the rice/sesame/green onion crust. It was served over a bed of greens with watermelon, berries and a grapefruit vinaigrette dressing. DAMN. Great dressing mixes. Jicama, pineappl, plums on spring greens with a mango mint dressing. The way they mix fruit and spices are kind of Caribbean, but with a really cool twist. The prices are very affordable, with most fishes between $19 and $23. See what I mean? Wait staff is always prompt and pleasant. This is a great place to get a really good meal for a decent price. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

This is the sister location to “Food Shack” which shared pretty much the same menu! Both locations are 5+ stars 🌟 I really enjoyed the service at this location, they were on point the gentleman who took care of us, gave my friend suggestions since it was his 1st time. (My friend loved it too). Great follow up asking how was the food, if we need anything else. Very attentive and detailed services. Even one of the managers came and picked up our plates and offer dessert. Oh My!! The Coconut Tres Leches it’s addictive, you just want to keep going! Nex time I will take one to go! The Seafood 🦞 Bowl was amazing, it had the flavor, big chucks of fish meat, calamari, shrimp, mussels and veggies! Home run! ⭐️: I wish it had a little more broth but the bowl couldn’t hold anymore 😆! Big portions and Friendly service. What else can you ask for? Place its welcoming and I would recommend for lunch with friends dinner with the family! It’s a no brainer
