tried a new local spot for Valentine's Day and just wanted to share how awesome of an experience it was! my boyfriend told me about this hidden gem, Sims House that was owned by a family in town who saved this historical home from being leveled and replaced by a car wash. The atmosphere was very intimate and unique, as most of the interior was still original to the home. As you walk through the house, there are large prints of historical documents relating to the home, with some letters even being addressed to the home from former US Presidents — how cool! We were greeted by the owner and his friendly staff, who had a set menu for Valentine's Day. They also provided us with complimentary prosecco and a rose, which was a nice touch. While we devoured their fantastic mahi ceviche appetizer, the owner made a very personal speech, sharing some of the history of the home and other structures like it in town that are all at risk of being erased from history forever, and how important it is to preserve them and share their history. As someone who is also part of a family owned business, I understand the importance of supporting local small businesses, and the impact reviews can have for them. The owner even made it a point to mention just how much they appreciated everyone's business and would appreciate if we all could spread the word and I was happy to oblige! I would 100% recommend the Sims House for anyone looking for a new date night spot, event or party venue, or even just a nice dinner out that isn't the usual place in town. I had their snapper picatta over linguine, and my boyfriend had the filet oscar with potatoes and asparagus, which were chefs kiss. It felt like you were eating dinner with their family, while also still having that small, intimate date night feel. The owner even shared with us where the snapper and filet were sourced from (all local!) Their outdoor atmosphere has the same inviting and intimate feel, but unfortunately due to yesterday's rain, we did not get a chance to enjoy it (guess we have to come back!). I can't wait to make this hidden gem our new spot and see what else they have on their menu. I believe their menu changes by the day, they're only open for dinner, and are reservation only, so keep the Sims House in mind for your...
Read moreWe came to this unique place……..and unique it is-to see what the fuss is about. There were absolutely no markings as to where to park, enter or even if we had the right address. It is full of smoke and mirrors from the weird way to “obtain” reservations to the name dropping re: chef so I won’t even go there, name wise that is. The employees look like they’re ready to hang out on the beach or at a coffee shop; we couldn’t tell the difference between them or patrons except there were no patrons. Yes, it’s full of history and reading about it is fun but there are only a few brownish plants for decor and nothing on the tables-Except a small lamp, paper napkins, and silverware they bring once you’re seated. Also, the whom we assumed staff totally ignored us as we tried to find entrance, when we did it was just so awkward like they didn’t know who we were or why we were there. The small rooms with vintage dining tables would be fun in a group maybe and the fish was tender. Oh yeah, did I mention the high upscale pricing, the most limited menu I’ve ever seen? The asparagus was tough and so skinny..was it even a vegetable? The artichoke was tough and inedible, no seasoning whatsoever including the sauce. No bread. Wine tasted just as bland at $18-20 a glass. They are falling way short across the board. Maybe give it an Italian name, serve their bragged about pizza, a few more salads and pasta dishes with bread, lower prices and oh yeah maybe add their pizza to the menu, red/white checkered table clothes, pre-set tables and fresh flowers, better more reasonably priced wine (there are soooo many inexpensive delicious wines out there).Wow! My girlfriend wanted to leave right after we sat down but we wanted to give them a chance-maybe they’re catering to specific people in their own neighborhood gem type atmosphere and the owners are getting exactly what they want out of their business…if so, that’s okay and……just fine by us!! We wish them...
Read moreImagine walking into your most cherished friend's cozy back yard and being greeted by that friend with a warm welcome and hug! This is what you experience the first time visiting The Sims House and each time thereafter.
It is an eclectic space under the swaying palms tucked away just off Center Street in Jupiter FL. Dining outdoors is pretty much the norm in this gorgeous setting but there is also the option to dine in the most unique historic house!
They are set up for guests to dine individually, in small groups or even events for business and pleasure groups.
Please be sure to make a reservation so that they will know you are coming to welcome you! The menu is thoughtfully designed with specialties of the house, prepared by the former Tiger Woods chef and his team.
The cuisine is amazing! We have already been twice since discovering and both times a local fish dish special was perfection!
Their wine list is sourced by some special wineries to which many are new to me and already favorites!
Thank you Ernie and John for saving this piece of history in Jupiter, for creating the Historical Society and for the dining gem...
