My husband left a review regarding our treatment when we arrived with my service dog which was apparently unacceptable to the owner and the staff as evident in the owners response to the review. We arrived with my service dog in his carrier. He is small. And old people in Jupiter tend to step on him at restaurant entrances as older people tend to have poor peripheral vision. We thought we were being polite walking in with him in a carrier. We did not realize it would cause us to be treated so poorly and discriminated against. It is NOT ILLEGAL for a service dog to be in a carrier nor is it legally required that he HAS to be walked in, as long as he is fully able and trained to behave and walk outside a carrier on a leash, which he is. No staff member asked us to remove him from the carrier- since the owner in their response believes service dogs cannot be in carriers whatsoever goodness forbid. And no staff member informed us that they “made an exception given the fact as long as [our] dog stayed in the travel dog crate”. We could’ve taken him out and it SHOULD HAVE BEEN FINE BECAUSE HE IS A SERVICE DOG. We do carry his vest to make uneducated people who don’t know service dog laws feel better. And if the owner is so concerned about other guests they could have asked us politely to put it on the dog. However, no staff member asked if we had a vest for him. No staff member asked for documentation as the owner is demanding we have in his response. Could we have pulled out documentation if we wanted to? Sure. Does the establishment and its workers even know what documentation a service dog should have? I probably could have pulled out his trainer’s information, his certifications from passing obedience classes, his boarding school information, my service-connected disability from the VA, my medical records, etc. But from the sound of the owners response, they are looking for my dog to wear one of those ID tags that anyone could buy off the internet for $100 or whatever with a vest off Amazon, And is it illegal to ask for ANY documentation? 100% ILLEGAL. However, what really got us to leave was when we informed one waitress that he was a service dog and asked her if she would like us to leave (given the rude snarky behaviors we could feel radiating from the staff) she responded “it’s okay this time”. That right there is completely unacceptable to whoever manages this restaurant and the owner because it should be okay EVERY TIME because he is a SERVICE DOG. Not an emotional support animal. I will be very clear, I have a service dog who is professionally trained to perform tasks due to my disability that I suffered while serving in the military. IT IS ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL TO: demand people with service dogs to provide documentation, require that service dogs that enter an establishment wear “proper identification” and be “properly tagged”, and require that the dog have a vest on. Everything in the owner’s response to my husband’s review regarding bringing my service dog back with the listed requirements is in fact illegal to require by any establishment and is grounds for a complaint to be submitted to the Dept of Justice Civil Rights Dept. I highly suggest some staff and management training regarding service dog laws and treatment of disabled people. And I will patiently wait for the owners response on how this situation will...
Read moreWe were lucky to come at a time when it wasn't particularly crowded and we were able to walk right in and get a seat - this is one of the only times I've ever had this happen. As usual, we were greeted by an extremely friendly waitress who took our drink orders as we looked over the menu. They were serving breakfast (served for breakfast & lunch) and normal lunch items so I was in quite the dilemma over what to order. Nicole went with breakfast (a veggie omelette) and I decided to get a sandwich because I was more in the mood for lunch. I've had many of their sandwiches but I'd never tried a burger of any type, so I ordered the Patty Melt on rye bread.
The food came out and looked excellent, and to no one's surprise, tasted excellent too. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is that they provide a creative, unique menu without sacrificing quality or flavor. My patty melt was served on rye bread that had been buttered and toasted, which was a great combination with the generous beef patty, melted cheese, and onions. I don't eat too many burgers/red meat anymore, but I can make an exception when it tastes like this. And to go with my sandwich, I ordered sweet potato fries as my side - which they do a great job with.
To be honest, I really can't offer any sort of critical review about the Center Street Nook. I love everything about it. The prices, especially for the South Florida area, are very reasonable - breakfast ranges from $5-$8 and lunch ranges from $6-$10. The servers are always friendly and the owner is always there checking on tables and talking with guests. And everything I've tasted has been good. They could probably expand to offer more space but that might take away some of the charm and atmosphere. This is one of the special little parts of Jupiter, FL that a visitor must experience - I miss not being able to experience...
Read moreI visit my brother in Florida from Arizona and I always have to stop here. “It’s a hidden local Gem”, says my brother. Today I decided to write a review because I just can’t believe how consistently amazing it is every single time. My brother always gets the biscuits with gravy. Today I tried something new for myself, the Reuben Eggs Benedict. Boy, it did not disappoint!! From the portion size to the phenomenal taste, I just savored every single bite. I live in Phoenix, the largest populated capital in the nation, and I eat out every chance I get. I can tell you that I never had a breakfast like this one. If you’re feeling like a killer eggs Benny, you need to try this!
And I can’t believe that I almost forgot to mention the mimosa that I had! Usually a typical place gives you a skinny little flute glass, not the Nook! It came in a massive glass similar to wine and filled to the top! Amazing!!!
Now let’s talk atmosphere… this little place has unique charm and decor. I love reading all the fun signage. The room is quaint with a homelike feel complete with a little seating bar. Nothing beats this intimate spot.
The wait staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Many people from the staff will stop by to be sure you have everything you need. You definitely feel well taken care of. I will be dreaming of this local spot until I can come back again. Thank you to The Nook for giving me the quintessential Florida hidden gem experience. Until we...
