This is my 3rd and last experience at this place. I wanted to really like it because the food is great. However, the managers verbal assault on me was the last straw. I ordered food the first time a couple of weeks ago. Didn't get any silverware. I called. They explained they do not provide silverware if it's not asked for. Ok. I get it. It's expensive. No worries. They replaced the meal and it was good. The second time, I asked for silverware and got it but something was missing. Then today, I asked for silverware and jelly. It's written on the box. None of that was included. I called. I spoke to a young lady who claimed to be the manager. She continued to talk over me. She got angry at me and was yelling. When I asked why she was yelling she said she wasn't, she just talks loud. She did say she would make sure in the future there was silverware in the bags to avoid this issue. I said well, what do I do about the food today. She said she obviously couldn't send it through air so I could either go buy some or drive there if I wanted. I said i ordered it because I can't leave work. She said she didn't know how to help me then. I continued to ask why she was yelling and she finally said because she's already apologized and doesn't know what I want or how to help me. I told her it was frustrating to have food in front of me I couldn't eat. She said she couldn't leave work to bring it to me. I said me either and I'm not asking her to. This just resulted in more yelling. I've been a manager for almost 25 years. I have NEVER yelled at a customer with a legitimate concern. That is NOT how you handle the situation. You listen. Let them vent it out. Offer a reasonable solution and we move on. A reasonable solution isn't to talk to other employees about me when I can hear you, yell, get angry and keep yelling at me. I am all done. I know my business doesn't mean anything to them and that's ok. I just will not continue to give my hard earned money to an establishment where it's acceptable for a "manager" to yell at a paying customer with a legitimate problem.
In response to the owner reaching out I'd like to say first, I appreciate that. Second, my frustration stems from not being provided what is needed to eat the food I've paid for. You got my money. I got nothing. Anyone would be upset with that. Honestly, I could've dealt with the frustration of that. What I absolutely can not tolerate is an employee yelling at me. I'm a whole adult. I accepted the apology for the mistake. I had ZERO issue with that. I was trying to find a reasonable solution and all she did was get angrier and yell. That. I absolutely can not and will not tolerate being...
Read moreWe came down to Kalamazoo so my wife could get some hospital scrubs and I wanted to take her and my two daughters to a great spot in my Western days. We came into a busy setting, but adequately staffed with what seemed to be 3 servers, 2 cooks and a bus person. Mind you this place has a small 10 (ish) person counter and 8 to 10 tables. We put our name on the wait list and a few minutes went by and were told a table was ready. It was not a formal "follow me" to your spot, just grab the table that obviously is for you. THEN WE WAITED! AND WAITED. Then a three top came in 5 minutes after. They were served silverware, menues and 2 minutes later, drinks. AND WE WAITED. 4 or 5 times servers passed us by serving others coffee refills, etc. Then table behind us left, new 2 top came in and were served within 2 minutes their silverware, then drinks. We didn't want to raise a fuss as we're not that type of folks. When the servers passed us two more times and after 15 minutes of waiting....it was time to leave. The kids were getting hungry. It's very upsetting to know that my favorite breakfast spot in college did this. What's more upsetting is we made eye contact with each server passing us by and no one seemed to even notice us in their place of business, about to pay for great food and tip plentifully. I chalk this visit down to piss poor service and a bad attitude that will now follow me to anyone asking for a great breakfast spot in KZoo. If your thinking of trying them out as a first timer, do yourself a favor and...
Read moreBeen a very long time since I've eaten at Nina's. I'm sad that I didn't come back years ago. I've missed out on many good meals, I'm pretty sure of that When I walked in I was greeted immediately, followed up by ordering. A few customers at the counter and a couple groups of 2-3. Very comfortable diverse atmosphere, tables nicely spaced for adequate speaking privacy. Though I was alone. With new very harsh diet restrictions. I was so happy to see honey individuals right next to the jellies. Home made breads, the toast was amazing. I have a feeling they could tell you each ingrediant, and you would have them in your kitchen.
