**EDIT- Since my review, the management has blocked me on my social media for calling them out for their abbhorent treatment of staff. If you look at other reviews, they only respond to praise for the higher ups and degredation of their employees. But nothing for claims against management. Wonder why that is?? You people are a stain on our community.
The employees are all good people, but management is seriously deranged. The employees of Water Street are extremely & illegally underpaid. In addition, there is a regular who has threatened the staff with a firearm, and when addressing this issue, management did not ban him and instead insisted that the baristas give him priority service over other customers. According to Michigan state law, "A private property owner has the right to prohibit individuals from carrying firearms on his or her property, whether concealed or otherwise, and regardless of whether the person is a CPL holder. If a person remains on the property after being told to leave by the owner, the person may be charged with trespassing (MCL 750.552)." They have every legal right to ban this man and they are instead choosing his daily $3-$5 purchase over the lives and safety of their employees. The managers at this company are money hungry, idiotic, and honestly evil. If you're here for "fair trade" coffee, you may as well just make your...
Read moreThe enticing fragrance of roasted coffee, the succulent flavor of handmade food, and the glow of genuine, smiling faces.
These are the things I've come to expect when visiting the Water Street Coffee on Oakland Dr. They are a phenomenal place to grab a cup o' joe with a large selection of coffees, daily specials, and a relaxing atmosphere.
In addition to putting love into each cup, they prepare each drink quickly and accurately for you on-the-go coffee heads!
If you're in the market for a cup, tumbler, or some tea accessories, they have a broad and affordable selection of merchandise for sale.
If I had one complaint, I would remark on the parking lot being crowded but there is a large adjacent parking area within a very short walk.
I would give Water Street Coffee Joint on Oakland a 10/10 and highly recommend anyone who enjoys coffee, tea, or handmade, delicious snacks to visit and enjoy their...
Read moreFrom the outside, the small building looks like an old and much-used, anonymous-looking strip mall storefront. Inside, however, was bright, clean, welcoming and pleasing to the eye. The morning crowd was good-sized, but my caffeine companion and I were helped immediately. Reasonable prices, very competitive. The coffee, a cup of Ethiopian drip, was fantastic. Piping hot and fresh, perfectly roasted so you can actually TASTE the specific notes in the varietal. Plenty of seating was available despite the crowd of students and people waking up before going to work. The ambiance was excellent; my friend and I were able to easily converse without having to shout or strain to hear each other. I did not order any of the many stellar looking pastries, but they all looked very fresh and quite tempting. Excellent coffeehouse. Starbucks...who? I'm now forever a Water Street booster. Excellent in...
