Disappointed First Visit — Poor Service Despite the Crowd

Visited this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday evening, arriving at 7:30 PM, well ahead of their 8:30 PM last order cutoff and 9 PM closing time. What followed was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience.

We were seated quickly, but no menus were given for over 35 minutes. Despite calling the waitress four times, she kept saying someone else would come. On the fourth attempt, she casually mentioned she wasn’t even allowed to take orders. No menus. No water. No acknowledgment.

At 8:20 PM, she returned to ask how long we’d been waiting — and when we told her, she simply said we’d have to order quickly because the kitchen was closing. Even more frustrating was the fact that at least four other groups who were seated after us — some as late as 8:30 or 8:35 PM — were served while we were still waiting for anyone to take our order. That added a layer of unfairness and complete lack of coordination among the staff.

At 8:40 PM, she returned to inform us that dine-in was no longer allowed and we could only place a take-out order. That too took another 10 minutes to complete. We finally received our food at 9:15 PM.

To be fair, this may have been an off night or a result of being understaffed on a busy weekend. But there’s no excuse for ignoring seated guests for nearly an hour, failing to communicate, and offering no basic courtesy like water or updates.

At the time of writing this review, we haven’t even tasted the food yet — but the service experience alone was enough to leave a bad impression.

Not sure if we’ll return, and I wouldn’t recommend it based on tonight’s visit. If the food ends up being good, I’ll consider updating this — but first impressions matter, and this one missed the mark entirely.

P.S if you need a faster delivery you can order food from #NamasteMontana.. Atleast they will serve it faster than Himalayan Kitchen guys.. But don’t expect the food to be...

If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience in Kalispell, look no further than Himalaya Kitchen. This charming restaurant offers a delightful taste of authentic Himalayan and Indian cuisine, and it’s clear that quality is their priority in every dish.

One of the first things you'll notice is the convenient parking. Despite being in a busy area, there's ample parking space available, so you don't have to worry about circling the block. The wait time is also incredibly reasonable—during our visit, we were seated in under 20 minutes, which is a huge plus for a popular spot like this.

The food is absolutely fantastic. We tried the chicken biryani and goat biryani, and both were packed with flavor and perfectly spiced. The chicken biryani was tender, aromatic, and full of savory goodness, while the goat biryani had a rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture that was truly satisfying. The naan was warm and fresh, with just the right amount of chewiness, and the butter chicken was a standout—creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.

The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place for a relaxing dinner.

Overall, Himalaya Kitchen in Kalispell exceeded all expectations. The combination of delicious food, quick seating, and convenient parking makes it a must-visit. Highly recommend it to anyone craving flavorful, authentic Himalayan and...

We had dinner from here today. Ordered a variety of foods because we were pretty famished coming back from Glacier Park.

The service is exceptional; you have a variety of people that come and check in with you and are all very friendly. The establishment itself is spacious, neat, and clean. The food was good and fresh.

The Biryani was flavorful, but some of the chicken in there didn’t carry as much of the flavor, and it also had peas.

The goat curry was delicious, but it was a little too spicy- we asked for medium, so we provided that feedback to the kitchen.

The tandoori chicken came out sizzling with a mountain of lemony grilled onions on top, and just a little 👌🏼 bite to them. They added a nice refreshment to the meal along with the raita. The tandoori chicken didn’t carry the flavor throughout the entire piece of meat, just the surface was more seasoned, so they probably needed to marinate it for longer.

The daal makhni was good, but it had more of an additional masala flavor instead of a buttery flavor that traditional daal makhni does at Indian restaurants.

The garlic naan was superb, fresh and on the thinner side. The aloo paratha was made of a different type of flour, maybe a little bit more of a wheat base, and didn’t have much of the potato filling inside, so I “would not” recommend ordering that at all.

The raita, mango lassi, and chai were all top notch. They came back around and got us plenty of...

We were really hoping to love this new Indian restaurant. Some but not all of our meal was worthwhile. The prawn kadai entree was excellent, ordered as hot/spicy. It had very good heat and depth of flavor. The white rice on the side was slightly dry. The aloo paratha needed more spice and a bit more filling. It was fairly bland. The tandoori chicken tikka was very disappointing. I ordered it mild, and I think they didn’t add any spice at all. The chicken was tasteless and terribly dry. Its side of lentils was actually very good in texture and flavor. I asked for a side of raita and they gave me a small cupful without charging us extra. I think we will return, but I won’t be ordering tandoori for sure. They didn’t do much to renovate the space. The interior is pretty drab. They’ve got the AC cranking on high, so I had to wear my winter coat throughout the meal. The server seated us and took our orders promptly. We only had to wait about twenty minutes for our food on a busy Saturday evening.

This eastern Indian and Nepali restaurant will leave your tummy feeling quite satisfied! I have had a lot of Indian food and I was quite happy with what I got. Prices are reasonable and the staff was friendly. The flavors are wonderful, like a palate of colors for your tongue. If you are new to this type of ethnic food, I would recommend starting with a Tandoori dish - which is kind of like their BBQ. Order it with some Naan bread and take a bite with each piece of meat. This would also be a great place to eat with a group and eat family style, order a bunch of items and share them as a table - then you will figure out what you like very quickly. My wife is gluten-free and everything is gluten-free except for the Naan - easy selection. My daughter is dairy-free and there was clear descriptions on each item on the dine-in menu and it notes that you can ask if you are dairy-free. I plan to come back frequently.
