First and LAST time. I drove 45 minutes to this place and spent over $65 on a bag full of mess. I ordered Egusi with goat meat and goat meat stew. I waited. 48 minutes absolutely no other customers and no one came in while I was there. I was told the rice for the stew wasn’t finished cooking. I opted for plantains as a substitute. Waited another 10 minutes for those to be cooked. Order finally ready. Have $5 tip and left. OH MY how I wish I had looked at this mess before leaving. Plantains black burnt. Two yes 2 pieces of goat meat the size of a quarter in the Egusi soup and swimming in palm oil. Three and a bone pieces of goat meat in the extreme thick stew. Taste of stew sauce was bad. This type of food should have never been served. Instead of paying $65 plus and a $5 additional tip. I would have given you a verbal tip of it’s time for you to CLOSE the doors. Follow Up: I’m sure you remember me since I was the only customer. At least for the hour I was there on 7/26/2025. A lady was sitting in a chair in what I believe was the kitchen area, a young man was sweeping the floor and waited on me and told the lady my order. Pictures of food that was not eaten. The only place for it was the garbage. And that’s where I put it. You know that order was a failure when you...
Read moreI ordered the Egusi Soup with Chicken and Fufu and a side of Jollof Rice. The Egusi Soup had great flavor and a nice kick. It was served with two chicken drumsticks. It was worth the money spent. However, I was a bit suprised that my order was $22.99 and not the $18 advertised on the large menu on the wall. The Jollof rice was incredibly disappointing. It did not look or taste like Jollof rice. I did not taste the scotch bonnet, red pepper, tomato, or the bay leaves that is supposed to be pureed and used to make the rice. The rice was definitely parboiled instant rice. I honestly thought it was mexican rice bcause it had peas, corn, and carrots in it. I recommend that you do not buy the Jollof rice. I intended to eat on the restaurant, but the atmosphere was not welcoming and there was trash in the glass display in the front. Also, the cooler with the drinks in it looked broken. I would go back but only for the...
Read moreAs a KC native, I had a difficult time finding a truly authentic African restaurant until now. I never knew Angie’s was located here because it was so deep in the cuts, but I’m so glad I discovered it! From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming, and it felt like home. The fufu and soup were delicious, with just the right amount of spicy, just like I wanted. I also ordered the Acheke with fried whole tilapia, fried plantains, and vegetables. Everything was freshly made and you could tell she took her time cooking this. Oh my gosh! As a true native Ivorian-Liberian, I can tell you that this woman can cook! Everything was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor, right down to the pepper sauce. I will definitely be coming back, Angie, and thank you for making me...
