Elvira's Cakes — Restaurant in Kansas City

I really should have paid attention to the tres leche cake reviews. We ordered one and drove 40 mins across the city to pick it up. It was ready on time and looked nice, but it was another story when we actually attempted to eat it.

The cake was insanely dry, had zero flavor, and even seemed stale, which was very surprising since this cake was supposed to be freshly made. It was disgusting and a complete let down. We had great expectations and they were no where near met.

I can honestly say this was the worst cake I have ever attempted to eat in my life. Nobody finished their cake. After a few bites everyone threw their slice away. I will never spend another dollar here and there's absolutely no way I could ever recommend this place to anyone. I can only assume the 4 and 5 star reviews are from supportive family members and friends, not actual unrelated...

my daughters birthday party was Friday and we picked up a chocolate cake with chocolate cake with cream we pre ordered , the inside was the driest I have ever seen and the people at the party did not want to eat it. We called Saturday morning and left a message, then Sunday we called again and they did the same, So my husband called Monday morning and we were told we should of saved a piece of cake from Fridays event and then because we did not, we will get no substitution of any kind. We have bought cakes from there for several years and were let down badly. so going forward we will have to find another resource to celebrate the many birthday and events we do. The biggest disappointment was my daughter saying mom ,, this isn't that great ,,,,, with the saddest look on her face. , so my best advice is to check the cake...

I placed an order via Doordash and once my driver arrived to retrieve the order she was told that the cake I ordered was not available. The Doordasher notified me and told me that they canceled the order and stated I had to place a new order. However, I contacted Doordash and we did a conference call with this bakery. Doordash informed them that they had not canceled the order and could I please simply change the flavor nothing else. They refused to swap it out and work with Doordash for the replacement all the while I had already been charged without a true cancelation or credit. After speaking with them myself while on the line the guy refused to work something out even though I was CHARGED. Needless, to say that I never got a cake and Doordash ended up having to credit me back the money. Very poor experience...
