Alert: Best chocolate ice cream in the city!
Very good quality ice cream. I wasn't sure if it was custard because the texture wasn't as smooth or rich as I am used to for most custard bases, but it was good nonetheless.
My coworker and I had the honeycomb and chocolate flavors respectively (and I came back immediately for the experimental strawberry corn salsa flavor, because I finished my cup so fast).
The chocolate flavor was probably the best I have had in KC. It was not overly sweet and it didn't have any weird aftertaste that often comes with chocolate ice cream.
The strawberry street corn ice cream was very good. The strawberry ripples were amazing. The only downside was there were portions of the ice cream that didn't have the strawberry or street corn add-ins, so it just tasted like ice cream base. The base is good, but the mix-ins really seal the deal.
The only critique I would have is to find a way to really get all the ripples and mix-ins fully incorporated throughout the base so that every bite has a little bit of goodness in it.
I will definitely be back to try out more flavors, along with having at least one scoop...
Read moreGreat location, kind of bland space (looks real Overland Park corpoblase), fast service. The space looks like it has been hit by the same scurrilous flippers that have been running through that neighborhood. The kind that paint houses black and white and rob them of their charm. Biggest fault was that the ice cream was not very good. My partner had the mint chocolate chip and I had the cookies and cream. Her ice cream had a few drops of mint flavor and a gentle sneeze of chocolate in it. It was scant. My cookies and cream had a similar scarcity problem made worse by the particular sandwich cookies used. The cookies themselves were fine, but the icing left within them was jarringly sweet in a way that didn't complement the icy ice cream around it. I could not recommend this to anyone looking for ice cream in the area, given how there is a better option just up the road, especially at 4.50$ for a single scoop in a cup. There wasn't even anywhere to enjoy the cup, either...
Read moreUnderwhelmed. I was super excited to come to this location for some frozen custard🍦. The staff was very nice. The store was overly warm. The seating inside is limited. The custard was not as rich and creamy as expected. The flavor choices were creative, I would have expected the flavors to be bolder. There were ice crystals in the custard which would indicate a slower freeze time or a thawing and refreezing of the custard in the case. The ice crystals made the product less than enjoyable and affected the overall flavor. It may be difficult keeping the storefront cool during the late afternoon when the sun is coming in the large windows which affect the cool ability...
