I used to love this place but my last few carry out orders have been not so good. Chow mein was not chow Mein. They used fried flat tortillas and not traditional crispy round lo-mein type. They use the same crispy strips for the egg drop and hot and sour soup. They sent 3 tiny bags. 2 of them were for the 2 hot and sour soup so even if it was the correct thing it’s a tiny bag not even close to enough for the order I paid for. The jalapeño chicken was dry and not at all how it normally tastes from them. This is the second time in a row it’s been cooked differently and I complained that they have a different Cook who is not cooking it the way it should be. I order this dish all the time and it has changed and is not good anymore. The chicken fried rice was good and same as previous orders. The steamed dumplings are not homemade anymore and we’re generic from a premade bag purchased from a supplier. Not good. Food quality and taste has gone way downhill the last 2 orders with them and when I called them each time to discuss they argued that it’s the same way they have made all of them for 20 years. I’ve been ordering from them for at least 13 years and it’s not the same. It has changed significantly in the last few months and the quality and taste is going downhill. If I spend $76 plus a decent tip and I’m a frequent customer I would at least expect them to say hey we had an off night let us take an item Or 2 you were not satisfied with off the bill but they just didn’t want to Hear any feedback and hung up on me. I’m bummed because it used to be so good but I’m gonna find a new place to go. RIP Sad Dragon!

Update. The restaurant decided my tip was not good enough and tried to publicly shame me instead of just taking some reasonable feedback from a long time customer so I am offering to give 100% of any refund they want to offer...

This place is fine if you go there during the lunch or dinner rush, but it is horrible if you go at a non standard time. They simply run it as cheaply as humanly possible and replenish the food as little as possible. If you get there when the food is fresh, it is a fine, but slightly mediocre buffet with fewer than average choices. At one time their sushi was good, if you got there at 11 am or 4 pm, but they are cheaping out on it as well. All in all if there was a decent Chinese buffet within 3 miles of this place, it would force them to break their bad habits. As it is now they have no competition, as there are no other Chinese buffets even close to this one.

This is a symptom of the Waldo area, having to pay higher prices or deal with lower quality due to lack of competition. Hey, anyone who has had a thought of opening a Chinese buffet, South Waldo is your place, as this very mediocre place would be your only...

I saw a post last weekend that said Happy Dragon (south KC, near Jasper’s) is now offering all you can eat hotpot on Saturday and Sundays and I knew I had to try it. It was great! You get to choose two broths and then they bring you cuts of meat (you can get pork belly, brisket, chicken, and lamb) and there is a full buffet to pick other veggies to add. We got the green chili broth and the Szechuan pepper. The Szechuan was so flavorful! I also made a delicious peanut dipping sauce for the meat. I plan on going on New Year’s Eve if they are open. I highly recommend! The price was $33 a person. There is seafood available on the bar and all the veggies and meats seemed like great quality. If you go hungry you will get your money’s worth while supporting a small business 🙂

My family has been going to this place for almost ten years now. The building has changed over that time, and so have their offerings, but they are consistently a B+ Chinese dine-in option. I don't do take-out, so I assume the same but a little worse. What prompted me to finally write a review is their latest offering. They have a new dessert item, sweet flavored rangoons. I've never been a big rangoon fan during the savory portion of the meal, but these are a scrumptious alternative to fortune cookies. Do yourself a favor and stop in to try these sweet rangoons hot and fresh. We liked all four varieties for different reasons. Also don't sleep on their tofu. The country style and general tso are both delicious and crispy.

This was our first time going for the Hot pot buffet. The food was great! Honestly at first I didn't know how it was supposed to work. As that was our first time doing that kind of buffet. But we navigated, you definitely have to have at least two people to do this buffet. I personally think this is a group thing you should definitely go in a group. Keep in mind you cannot take home any leftovers! Bring your appetite all the way so you can really feel like you got your money's worth! This is definitely a spot to go, this buffet is 100% GOOD!
