Went here last night to grab a dog and enjoy a nice night outside on the patio area they have set up. Let me start by saying I've had Chicago dogs from any place you can think of so I figured why not, let's give it a shot. Went with the Chicago dog and Maxwell st. Polish. Let me start by talking about the sausage they used, personally don't know what kind or brand it was but it was absolutely perfect, cooked to perfection with the perfect snap to it, you know what I'm talking about with the snap if you've experienced it. So that was a great start, but let me back up to over all appearance. Standard Chicago dog with the fixings, missing the neon relish but wasn't a deal breaker as the regular relish was good. But one part really stuck out, the poppy seed hoagie bun. I know what you're thinking, why not use regular poppy seed buns, first off nowhere in KC do they have those. But more importantly they used the same delicious hoagie rolls that they use on there other sandwiches and added poppy seeds to them. So why is this bun important? Let me tell you, a Chicago dog is loaded high with ingredients and mustard, causing it to be a complete mess. This bun was just big enough vertically to have those toppings right at the top and every bite was amazing. Over all it was absolutely fantastic dog and bun made it even better. I will be back to try the other food. While I was there I did get some deserts because I deserved it after finishing my meal and the Red Velvet cupcake and snickerdoodle...
Read moreThis is one of those times I wish I could give more then five starts. Let me tell you about the KC Grinder—a meatball sandwich so divine, I had to check if it came with a side of angelic chorus and a golden beam of light. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. But it should have.
First bite in, I almost called my ex just to tell her I’ve finally found something better. The bread? Fresh like it was baked by a grandmother who still slaps your hand if you touch it before dinner. Lightly toasted, perfectly chewy, and strong enough to hold the glorious chaos inside without falling apart like my last relationship.
The sauce? Oh, the sauce. I wanted to drink it straight. I’m not saying I did—but if anyone saw me licking the wrapper, mind your business. It was tangy, herby, a little sweet—like if marinara went to therapy and found its purpose in life.
And the meatballs… GOOD LORD. Juicy, tender, seasoned like they came straight out of an Italian mobster's Sunday kitchen. I was halfway through and already mentally drafting a will to make sure this sandwich was mentioned at my funeral.
This isn’t just the best meatball sandwich I’ve ever had—it’s the best food I’ve had in Kansas City, period. And this city has BBQ that makes grown men cry. The KC Grinder is so good, I’m considering writing it in for the next mayoral election.
If you’re in KC and not eating this sandwich, I assume you’re lost. Or tragically unaware of what joy tastes like. Fix that. Get the KC Grinder....
Read moreWe've been wanting to try this place for a whillllleeee 😔 The stars finally aligned and we ordered to go this evening. My husband is obsessed with Cuban sandwiches and the special this week was their take on that. I ordered the Italian beef sandwich with my sauce on the side because we have a little drive back home and didn't want the bread to be soggy. I didn't expect to be completely floored but the deliciousness of this place. I HAD to taste test my husband's too...it came with a side of marinara type sauce.... I would've never thought to try them together...but man! It's a winner! My Italian beef not only had the red sauce in the side but also the au jus! I forget the menu said it came with that on it as well.... It made me feel like there are some mind readers working there...or genuinely thoughtful people who care about their guests. It was just a really sweet addition to the food. My sandwich was huge!!! I couldn't finish all of it but it will be delicious next time too! The sauce and au jus were flavorful and delicious. The meat and bread were amazing. It's the closest I've ever tasted to my grammas Italian beefs. No wonder I've hear nothing but amazing things about this place! There's nothing not to love! We will be back to keep trying the menu that looks just great ❤️ I told my husband....these guys are wild when I opened my box 😂 And I haven't been able to shut up about how good it is since...
