DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! It truly saddens me to leave this review but after my experience with this cafe today I have no other choice. I have been going to The Neighborhood Cafe for years with family and friends. Today I was treated more rudely than I have ever been treated by a business before and for that reason I SAY DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I put in a to go order 3 hours in advance in order to provide plenty of time for preparation. When I arrived to pick up my order the staff was very rude and told me the order wasn’t submitted and that they couldn’t tell me how long it was going to take so I would just need to stand out in the rain and wait. EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMEBR WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WOULD ASSIST ME IN MY SITUATION. No apology or customer service was offered. It’s appalling that a business would treat a customer this way when they were in the wrong. I own a business and would never treat a customer this way. That is why I’m taking the time to write this review. I understand we all get busy but without our customers we would be nowhere and they not only lost a long time customer today but I will NEVER again recommend this place to anyone family or friends. Sometimes growth can cause quality to go down and that appears to be the case...
Read moreI love their BBQ sauce!! I have been looking for what I grew up thinking of as KC BBQ (I am from a small town south of KC). My mom made the best sauce in the world!! Unfortunately she and her recipe are both gone. I know it had dark Karo syrup, brown sugar and other ingredients. It was sweet (NOT sweet and hot). I have heard of sweet molasses BBQ. Anyway, good BBQ has the sauce thickly cooked on it. Sauce goes on as soon as the meat hit the grill, so it sips into the meat. My husband had their Grill Cheese Pulled Pork sandwich and it was the closest I have found to Mom's sauce since she past. Now, my family wasn't as impressed. The price was actually pretty reasonable for the city (my husband doesn't agree). We got 2 cups of coffee, 2 hot chocolates, glass of chocolate milk, and water, 5 cinnamon rolls (huge and come with every meal!!), 1 meat lover's skillet dinner, 2 Denver Burritos, 1 two egg dinner w/ham, and my husband's sandwich for $62. They were busy! Service was slower, but she was very good!! And very patient with all of our questions (my son thinks the waitress forgot about us). My family might say 4 stars, but I...
Read moreNeeds so many improvements immediately before business declines. 1) Efficiency: 3 different people came and sized up our party and gave us different wait times in the first 5 minutes after arrival. Needs organized host system and for everyone to have specific assignments. Maximize use of wait staff, no need to have 10 people working at once. 2) Organization: We waited an hour for our food, people who came after us were served before us. 3) Quality: Their signature cinnamon rolls tasted/appeared store bought and were sitting on a giant tray in the open air and cut off by servers as needed--not kept warm at all. Food came out lukewarm and overall is not delicious. Please revisit your menu. Downsize if needed but focus on quality not quantity of options. 4) Cleanliness: restaurant smells dank, large, outdated, and not giving clean appearance at all. There was a hair embedded in my menu. Bathrooms were dank with overflowing trash cans, two disgusting looking plungers visibly chilling under the sink, and a toilet scrubber laying on the floor...
