My wife and another couple joined me to try out their burgers because we heard they were really good. They were good but not great. You have to order online and the online portal tells you when they receive your order and when it is in progress and it’s supposed to tell you when it’s done. However, it didn’t show that our order was done. I had to go to my email to find a confirmation email and that was 10 minutes after our food was done so it sat there under the heat lamp for 10 minutes. Cosmo is inside another bar (dodsons) and the bar does not have servers. Nor does Cosmos. The two bartenders did an amazing job handling all the people coming up for drinks. This place could definitely use some servers. The guy and gal that were bartending last night stayed on top of all the people standing there waiting for orders and they were taking multiple orders at one time. It was impressive! Overall, the burgers were above average, but definitely not any of our favorite in Kansas City. We’re on a mission to find the best burger in Kansas City. One of the people I was with last night said Culver’s burger is better. I don’t agree with that, but I see where he’s coming from. Rating from the 4 of us were wide ranging. 5.5, 6.5, 7 and an 8. Take that for...

We’re traveling through and wanted something local rather than a chain and thought the 15 min detour here would be worth it. Not even close! My wife and I entered with our kids, 18 and 15, only to be directed back outside as under 21 aren’t allowed inside even to place a take out order. An interesting approach for a restaurant to take whether or not there’s a bar inside. So we dutifully walked outside, I got everyone’s order, and went back inside. I asked the bartender if I order from him or what looked like a takeout window. It should’ve been abundantly clear by now that we’re not locals, but he responded with a grunt then to scan the QR and order online. Needless to say, we headed to a chain then back on the road. While there is a line on their website stating no one under 21 can dine in I would strongly suggest they clarify that on their website, add a sign with larger than 12 pt font on the door, and upload a pic of said revised sign on the Google and other search pages so possible and actual patrons will know. The burgers do look really good on their website and Google images, but we...

As I was just passing through Kansas City for work, I was craving a burger (as I do most days) so I did a quick Google search for top-rated smash burgers in KC. Cosmo Burgers came up multiple times so I decided I had to see what the fuss was about.
Cosmo is actually inside of another establishment called Dodson's Bar & Commons. It had that friendly feel/vibe that a dive bar would have, but the drinks were proper and tasty. I had their margarita and my favorite cocktail - a sazerac - as well.
Now, onward to the reason for this review. I had the double burger with no changes nor add-ons, and I had to order some tots, too. This smash burger was the perfect compliment to the bar, and definitely ranks as a quality smash burger. If I hadn't gotten carried away talking to some friendly strangers seated at the bar next to me I was going to order another one! Sadly for me they'd already stopped accepting orders. ¯(ツ)/¯ oh well, that just means I need to come back.
** fyi, they only accept orders made online; not a big deal, they have a QR code next to the...
