Sushi Haru used to be my family's favorite local sushi restaurant. We have gone there for many years and recommended it to others. I will NEVER eat there again after my recent experience. On August 13th, my family went to Sushi Haru to celebrate my daughter's last night home before returning to college. There were seven of us. When the waitress took our drink order, my husband and I ordered cocktails. She looked closely into my husband's face, told him his face was red, and asked him if he had been drinking. He said no. But when she brought drinks for the rest of the table, she did not bring my husband's or mine, even though she brought our older daughter a beer from the bar. She said that the bar was backed up. She later said that the manager told her they were not going to serve my husband because he was drunk, which he was NOT. I never got a drink either. The manager finally came to our table, after I insisted. She apologized, said everything would be on the house, and tried to give my husband and me our drinks. We refused to take them, because by this point, so much time had passed since we ordered them (at least an hour), and it was just offensive. She changed our waiter to another young man. Every person at my table received their meal at very different times. The last person's meal arrived so late we had to box it up and take it with us. When we were getting ready to leave , we noticed a uniformed police officer had come into the restaurant and was looking around. As we were leaving, the manager followed us out into the parking lot to tell us that she had not called the police, but that some other customer had. None of us had been loud, obnoxious or belligerent in that restaurant, or given anyone any reason to assume that any of us was drunk. The manager asked me if my husband was going to be driving. I'm telling you, the man was not intoxicated!! The police officer was waiting in the parking lot to arrest him if he got behind the wheel. This restaurant had not served him one single drink that night, and had no reason to assume he was intoxicated, or for any of the treatment we got that night. NEVER AGAIN. This used to be a great restaurant, but I cannot believe we were treated this way. It felt like we were in the middle of a bad movie; it was embarrassing and beyond offensive. Sushi Haru can be sure that I will never darken their...
Read moreThis place was sent to me to try so I figured why not... I am not disappointed. Japanese cuisine and sushi are by far favorite foods. I'm pleased that this establishment offers fairly authentic options as well as Americanized options. The building is located in a strip mall but dont let that fool you. The layout inside is quaint, clean, and private without being forgotten. There is also a sushi bar you can sit at with itamae working behind the protective plastics as well as a full bar. I came in for a late lunch around 2p.m. on a Tuesday. After seating myself, the waitress appeared to be the only one on the floor for a decent flow hour i was there. She approached and answered a few of my questions before bringing my drink and taking my order all in a timely mannered without feeling rushed. I am often rushed out of places when i dine alone but the staff here are welcoming without a peep of judgement. As my meal progressed I noticed this is a popular place for single lunch diners. The food I absolutely love that they have a bento lunch option that comes with a small salad with ginger dressing and miso soup as well as your choice of meat, steamed white rice, 2 pork dumplings, and 4 pieces of California roll. I also ordered their lunch roll special, 2 for 10.95 or 3 for 13.95. I definitely ordered 3. I got the Shrimp Tempura, which is my go to since pregnancy, the Wildcat, and the Bagel (highly suggest) rolls. I ordered the beef bulgogi bento lunch. Although fairly dry, it came out hot and smelling amazing. The rice was fluffy and the right texture. The ginger dressing (made in house) was really quite good and I'd love to take a bottle home! The salad was just lettuce and the miso soup, dumplings, and Cali roll are tasty but nothing special. Very good value and filling. My total for all this food was $28.71 and I'm pleased to sat I have dinner and maybe lunch for tomorrow.
Not a perfect experience but certainly close. Over all a great, mid-week experience and I have bookmarked them to visit again when I am passing...

Usually I Love this restaurant but today my experience was so horrible I won’t be back for a long time, probably not ever.
The waitress was the only one waiting tables as usual (usually this is ok and still a good experience) and the food was bad too. Calamari rubbery, sushi roll dry and missing ingredients.
This waitress was not our usual one and was so rude that I had to do a double take. I tried to give her as much slack as possible but then she became rude when she made mistakes. I understand as the only waitress she was very busy but she didn’t need to be rude for her mistakes.
Her mistakes: Didn’t bring a high chair for 10 minutes. Forgot two parts of our order (we only orders three things). Forgot our appetizer, and then forgot the meal of one of the two adults at the table. Brought the wrong meal (that was forgotten) and then told us “no, you ordered this.” Then told us “listen i will see if they can fix it but it’s gonna be a while because we are really busy and backed up so if they choose fix it, it will be a while.” Didn’t refill any drinks. Brought the bill with the wrong order, told her the bill was incorrect. Her response was “it’s the same price” i told her it wasn’t, we checked. She Then said “fine I will check, I guess but I’m sure it isn’t that big a difference. She then spun around and ended up tossing my card across the table. When she brought it back she said “there two whole dollars less!”
I have never had someone be so rude. Therefore I won’t be coming back. Hopefully service will improve and return to your usual high standards some day and I will be...
