Taqueria Mexico #4 — Restaurant in Kansas City

Probably one of the worst Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. The hostess sat us and threw our menus on the table and they went into the floor. The waitress finally came over after about 10 minutes. We ordered water and drinks and after another 10 minutes finally received our drinks and chips and salsa, but no waters. Although the salsa was more like ketchup. We ordered cheese dip with spinach and only received cheese dip-no spinach. We ran out of chips and when she came back to take the order another 12 minutes later we had to ask her a second time by sending my daughter to go see if she would be able to get us some chips. So far we had been sitting there now for over 30 minutes and just now getting to order our food. The food came and one of the orders was completely wrong but she didn’t find that out until everyone else had finished their meals because she never once came over to the table again. Our drinks had been gone from the time we received our food but she never asked if we wanted any more drinks or anything and then when she was told that the order was wrong she told me that I never specified the kind of burrito. I definitely did and everyone at the table heard so instead of clarifying it I guess she decided that I would have pork and it had been smothered with some kind of red sauce which is also not what I wanted nor ordered. And the remaining dishes of the food that were ordered at the table were mediocre at best. You would be better off going To Taco Bell. It is baffling how this is referred to as the best Mexican restaurant in Kansas City. But that could just be according to their home made banner that they have out front and may not actually be real. Because the idea of that is mind-boggling. It is easy to say that we will not be returning and if anybody asks for recommendations of where to go, taqueria will not be one that we say..... ever. We were there April 14th at 4:30 p.m. . The only reason it is not a one-star is because of the manager. I'll start by saying the food was good. However our server was atrocious. They brought the customary mild sauce with the chips but I had to ask for hot sauce 3 times before we received it. We waited 10 minutes for our first round of drinks. Looking around the place was not that busy and she was giving a lot of attention to other tables. They must have been friends or regulars. When they finally brought our food only one of our party of four received a plate and then they were bringing food to other tables around us. That's when I voiced my dissatisfaction to the manager. He stepped up big-time went to the kitchen came to the table and explain to us that there was an issue in the kitchen took the one plate away and within three minutes everyone had their dinner hot and fresh. He did buy us another round of drinks which at this point our server should have asked because our glasses were empty for 10 or 15 minutes. I had to ask for more chips and two more times had to ask for more hot salsa! Not one time did our server apologize or explain the situation. Again she was atrocious. if I were in her position I would have been tripping all over myself to make amends, apologize and correct the situation. Personally I wanted to leave her no gratuity but the other people I was with decided to leave her about 7%. Unfortunately I'm not sure she's bright enough to figure out why she got a small tip! As we were leaving the manager was again extremely apologetic, friendly and forthright on the situation. In all likelihood we will return because again the food was tasty but I guarantee you I will remember our server and she will not be our server again. I could have used her name but I will take the high road. I'm sure if the owner ever reads this review it will not be difficult to find...

My wife and I went for dinner on Saturday. This wasn't our first visit. We've been here before a few times. It's always busy, ok food and good drinks. However, we are never going back again. We were treated horribly. Our server was rude and disrespectful, the food was below average and we were rushed into leaving. The place was busy as usual but we noticed that only we were asked for IDs by our server ( we have never been asked before here). We have no issue showing our ids, of course, but when i asked him why only we were being asked he did not even bother to reply. Took my wife's phone to see her id and kept zooming into it! We didn't want to create an issue so we let that pass. When the food came in my 'torta cubana' tasted odd and the skirt beef tasted weird. I eat out a lot and know mexican food so i know how it should taste like. Also, the avocado slices were black/brown in color. The only edible thing on my plate were the fries. Before we were even half way through they started dusting and sweeping the floor and tables around us ( there were other tables that were occupied as well with spanish speaking people and we didn't see this happening around anyone else). We felt very uncomfortable and my wife couldn't finish her drink. We left in a hurry and they ruined our evening! This place will treat you well only if you are a spanish speaker or American. I'm instead gonna go try 'Bohemio Mexican' across the street than go to this horrendous place ever again!! This was my first 'racist' experience on the hands of...
