I've been curious about this place for a long time. I've driven past many times thinking maybe I'll stop and try it, but then one look at the constantly packed parking lot changed my mind. That observation alone made me more curious. Any place that is this busy has to be good, right? Well, today I decided to try it out. Wait be damned. Boy, I was not disappointed! I was prepared for a wait, but even though the lot was just as packed as usual, I had no wait at all. There's a lot of room in this restaurant. I was able to go right to the counter. The first thing I noticed was the staff. Lots of folks running around busily serving customers. I was greeted with a smile and when I looked around, all the servers seemed cheerful even though they were all incredibly busy. Sometimes you can just tell when a joint is well managed and the personnel are well treated. Nothing scientific, just a gut feeling you get from observing. This is a happy place. Just saying. I had the Big Breakfast. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, (Ever have trouble deciding between bacon or sausage? This is the way to go - have both) and choice of pancakes, toast or biscuit and gravy. I decided to see why this place is called The Big Biscuit. Opted for the biscuit and gravy. The sausage patties looked like they were hand cut from a roll. Not pre-packaged or mass produced. Old school, baby. Delicious! And it really was a big biscuit. Cake-y and wonderful. Not over baked. Just right. The gravy wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was really good. And I got it really fast. Really enjoyed my meal. Then it was time to pay up. I was reaching for my wallet and panic set in. I had left my wallet at home! How could that have happened? Must be getting old and forgetful. My mind started racing - would they let me run home and come back? Would they make an embarrassing scene? Call the cops? I dunno. This doesn't happen to me. I hoped maybe they would be able to take Android Pay. Explained to my server what had happened. No drama. No scene. Just a smile as she explained that they didn't accept Android Pay. Could they just enter my card number and accept payment that way? After checking with her manager - who also reacted not with a frown, but with a smile - she said they could do that. So I was able to pay up without any embarrassment. Of course, I left a fat tip. So, great food. Truly big biscuits. And really, really great customer service. If you've read my other reviews, you've probably noticed I don't have many that aren't 5 stars. But you have to understand that I only take the time to write a review if a place is really good and I think everyone needs to know about it. This is definitely one of those places. There was another smile as I left this place. Belly full and happy. Something special about a joint that sends their customers off with a smile. I'm going...
Read moreWe have enjoyed this place a few times in the past, but this visit left us with the impression that we should definitely go elsewhere.
The host actively worked to remediate the issue encountered, but it left all 15 of us wondering at the ignorance and insensitivity of the franchise owner.
We decided to host our monthly birthday brunch at this location and called in advance to ensure they could accommodate us. On arrival, we were told it could be up to a 30 minute wait, which was fine; that is, unless we were interested in sitting on the patio. We said that would work too.
We quickly discovered the patio is NOT the place to be. Loud, aggressive, and obnoxious music blasted at us from two speakers. Normally, we do listen some of this music, when driving down the road alone in our car.
Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, Scorpions, and other similar choices were not what we expected to hear screaming at us over Sunday morning breakfast.
We had to shout at each other and the staff to be heard. There is no reason for that level of volume outside. There is no party in the parking lot. It was a 1030 AM on Sunday morning!
All of the staff at this establishment agreed that it was excessive and obnoxious. They were helpless to do anything about it though. They told us the owner had locked them out of adjusting the volume or the music so far as they could not even turn it off.
After enduring about 20 minutes of this chaotic situation, which left multiple people in a state of sensory overload, we were able to move inside.
We appreciate the efforts of the staff to reconcile this.
We do not appreciate the ignorance and insensitivity of the owner in disabling staff ability to address a problem as simple as this.
The owners need to seriously reconsider their position on this point and give their staff the ability to adjust sound volumes. I understand they don't want them to turn it up, but you have also blocked them from turning it down, which could cause harm and inflict trauma on those with sensory processing disorders.
I seriously doubt we will be back. We will go to a concert or a bar, if we want to listen to music at...
Read moreNorthland ( Antioch location) Not very warm atmosphere and overall uneasy setting. Teens hosting and it took 3 of them to seat my family. We were placed very uncomfortably next to other parties in a corner. There was not enough room and party next to us let there toddler run around annoying us. We knew of all the conversation of the next party because it was like sitting at the same table. I wanted to try the biscuits but then something in me said not to. So I ended up trying a traditional eggs Benedict. Before food came I saw spoons were dirty and had caked on food on multiple spoons. Decided that I really didn't want to ask for anything because waitress seemed unfriendly and bothered by us. I let that go. Never got refills of anything nor were we asked how everything was. Food came in a very short time and I thought it was very strange. Then I realized why it was so short. It looked and tasted like they premade everything and it just sat until someone ordered. I was very upset by husbands COLD gravy. They poured it over his omelet which is gross anyway. Glad I didn't let my 8 year old try that. He was unsatisfied with his food too. Too plain and cold for him too. My eggs Benedict was horrible. Sauce was off and too sweet. But the part I was looking forward to was those runny eggs that make the whole meal. They were pretty well cooked and not soft at all and again didn't seem cooked recent because of food temperature. Potatoes were bland and not fried or seasoned at all. Overpriced and simply not a great place. I should have cooked at home. So many other places for a great breakfast. Heck even Denny's puts this place to shame. If a manager would have been there I would have voice opinion but again teens at the front. When the bill came waitress asked if we wanted separate checks. Huh? We were a family? Thought was weird and off. Did she even pay attention who we were? I didn't feel welcome or comfortable there at all. What a waste of money. This was a very...
