Antioch Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Kansas City

I write this as a professional cook who has come to the restaurant multiple times, I have pretty high standards for restaurants, and I'm talking from experience. For the summary, the atmosphere and service is excellent. I have loved every bartender I've gotten, they have been lovely, and I've tipped extra every time. They have live music on Wednesday nights, and the bands are phenomenal. The bar does look a bit dreary when it's empty, but the restaurant does a great job with giving you reasons to come here.

However, the food and beverage choices left much to be desired. First of all, they do not have any beer on tap. Every beer you get is coming from a bottle, and they're gonna charge you $4-5 for it. I'm fine with paying $5-6 for something on tap, but not for something I can get at the grocery store for far less. I really think this place would benefit from having tap beers. The mixed drinks were good(ish). They're quite strong, and I appreciate that personally, but some of the drinks pushed being too boozy even for me.

Food was hit or miss, even when I was drunk. The cajun chicken alfredo was under seasoned with cajun seasoning, and the chicken was very dry. The regular mac and cheese tasted very similar to the cajun pasta, just with more cheese on top and no cajun seasoning. It was pretty good. But the second time I ordered it, it didn't come with the extra cheese on top, and that left me dissapointed. The burger was serviceable when drunk, but it was underseasoned. The fries were quite good, albeit a bit underseasoned, but the flavor was really nice. The only advice I have to the culinary side is to season more heavily, because the food is so close to being good, but it's like there's a lack of quality control for the food that...

So, I decided to tryout a new place tonight. A place called Antioch Bar and Grill located in Gladstone. It's located in the Antioch Annex Shops next to the Redwing store. When you walk in, you're greeted with large, open space. On the right is a dinning space of tall tables. In the center is a U-shaped bar, and on the left is a dinning area that consists of booths and tables. There are a lot of TV's for all the sport fans out there.

Finding a seat at the bar, I am greeted immediately by a friendly bartender who promptly took my drink order and sat an ice cold Martin City beer in front of me.

They have nightly specials and tonight was steak night. I, on the other hand, opted for a burger! And I'm glad I did! Their menu is somewhat limited at this time but a burger by the name of The Gladstoner caught my eye.

Consisting of a beef patty covered in American cheese and a thick cheese sauce, topped with a fried egg, bacon, two onion rings, lettuce, and tomato. I ordered the burger cooked medium, and even though the pictures don't show it very well, it was perfectly pink a super juicy. Everything was piping hot and freshly prepared and very tasty! As you can see by the pictures it is a monster.

Tring to pick it up with my hands, I was able to get through the first half, but for the sake of my shirt, I went with a knife and fork on the second half. I came with a large side of tasty fires, to many for me to eat. I have to say that I think the cheese sauce was a little too much. It really didn't add to the sandwich and it made it hard to pick up.

All I can say the people are good they treat me nice 🙂 the owner's a little shy but other than that the bartenders all wow and I'm going to tell you what happened to me me and a couple of guys was talking in the patio it come up about my birthday in April 6th guess what happened one of the guys took his Chiefs hoodie off and gave it to me for a birthday present the other guy brought me a cold one what bar can you go to and that happens to you not too many as I know of and I've been in a lot of them that made my month or maybe my year besides God blessing me you talking about good people I had to let the world know about this so if you want a place to lay your head and don't worry about the young ones this is.older crowd thank God no offense to my young ones but sometimes old folks want a place we can gather into hoorah 👍🪖 anyway all I can say is check this place out prices reasonable they have a happy hour 12 or 10 whatever listen to 6 I think a dollar off hello 😳 anyway I just wanted the world to know they can be safe here yes ladies I am available I am a widow I had to put my shot out take care and God bless you always!...
