This review is for the Kolache Factory location at 23240 Westheimer Parkway, Katy TX.
Like most folks, I don't write reviews (but do appreciate those who take the time to write a review ... thank you!). However, I had an interesting experience this weekend at this location which prompted me to write this review so that others can learn from my experience.
I have been visiting this location regularly. Yesterday, my son went in to get some kolaches. After we picked up the kolaches and got on TX-99, we realized some of the items we paid for were missing. When we called the store, Monica, whose name was printed on the receipt, acknowledged the mistake and asked if we could come back the same day, which was not an option for us as we were headed to the other side of the town for a day long event and already running late. So she advised to come back the next day. When we went back to the store this morning, we talked to Fabian who was handling the customer orders at the counter, since Monica was not there. I was very surprised by his approach to the issue.
He openly acknowledged they do make mistakes frequently, such as miss items ordered, wrong # of items, forget to add discount coupon etc.. But he said he can not do anything today, since this was a transaction from yesterday and books are already closed. When we asked to talk to Monica or the store manager, we were told they were not there and there's nothing he can do, because we did not come back yesterday. It did not matter that we spoke to Monica on the phone with 5-7 mins of picking up the order and the mistake was Kolache Factory's and she advised to come back on Sun morning. I am really disappointed not by the mistake made (it's human nature), but rather the callous approach afterwards.
May be it's his first week on the job or, that's how Kolache Factory really handles customer issues, and I just had not experienced it before or, he was just having a bad day. Not sure what's going on there. But it was a shock to me, a company acknowledge they make mistakes yet say to the customer, tough luck you spent your money with us. Looking back, I should have paid via credit card, so that I could go back and dispute the transaction. Sharing this so that others can learn from...
Read moreKolache Factory is a beloved establishment renowned for its delicious kolaches, a pastry that has become a staple in Texas. Originally brought to the Lone Star State by Czech immigrants, kolaches quickly gained popularity and are now a cherished part of Texan culinary culture. Brought to Texas by Czech immigrants, the pastries were a weekly mainstay and snack in local households, made with sweet yeast dough with a center filled with fruits and / or salty fillings typically available in Eastern Europe. The word "kolache" is of Czech origin, derived from the word "kola," meaning wheel or circle, which refers to the shape of the pastry. Originally, kolaches were known as "kolace," but the pronunciation evolved over time to become "kolache."
Overall, Kolache Factory is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the deliciousness of traditional kolaches. With its wide selection of flavors and commitment to quality, it's no wonder that Kolache Factory has become a favorite among locals and...
Read moreWe ate at Kolache Factory on Westheimer and I-99 with our family who came to visit. We were very pleased and received the best service ever!!! Mr. José is super kind and has the best attitude. He gave us recommendations and made sure that we had a great experience. He prepares the most delicious iced coffee. We were having breakfast together before our family went back home and we were feeling sad when we came to the place. He changed our mood and we left Kolache with a smile in our face. Thanks, Mr. José. You made our farewell breakfast an unforgettable moment....
