Since Covid pandemic, I have exercised outdoors more via walking or running. My Lifetime trainer Marcia suggested that I came to Good Times Running to get fitted for running shoes to avoid injuries. My first time at GTR, Marianne helped me with selecting two pairs, Hoka and 361. She asked me to walk up and down the floor and watched my gait with each pair. She spent a great deal of time finding out my exercise routine, and where I exercise, gym, trail or road. What I discovered was that I've been wearing running shoes too small for me! I normally wear size 9 to 9.5 for dress shoes so I've been wearing the same sizes for running shoes as for dress shoes. It surprised me that Marianne recommended going up 1 to 1.5 size depending whether the shoe makers tend to be true to size or not. That first visit was a revelation and the shoes I bought were only $130s or below. A month later, I got fitted for custom orthotics by my Podiatrist at Everyone's Foot Specialist. Dr Nguyen made me laid out all my shoes and after careful consideration she told me to return the Hoka even though it was very comfortable. It was a few days past 30 days since the purchase so I wasn't sure if I could return them. Plus I had not saved a receipt. On my second visit, Sarah was very helpful. She told me if I weren't happy, she would take them back. I had already used the Hoka several times running outdoors on grass so they picked up dirt which I forgot to clean when I dropped by the store. Sarah didn't mind it. She even looked me up in their database, found the receipt then graciously refunded my return. I saw that the store now carries several types of colorful masks that are good for running so I got some that was thin but it passed the Science Guy Bill Nye's candle test (per Sarah)! I would definitely shop at Good Times Running...

edit:
Last year I gave this store 5 stars for their helpfulness and unfortunately I was given advice that I now have to edit my review. The advice I was given has led to moderate Achilles tendonitus .
I went to them a few months ago and sought a remedy to an issue I was having with the Hokas ($180) I purchase from them a month prior and used them for less than 25 miles. The shoes were instantly causing blisters. The design of the shoe was causing the hard rubber to hit my arch without any cushioning of the insole and the manager recommended the purchase of an additional insole to lift my foot above the arch line(rubber). I was a bit disappointed in having to purchase more items to make my very expensive shoes work for me but I did because I didn't want the bad blisters anymore (and had already forked out $180 for the shoes) and was past the return policy. I purchased the insoles and a month later was experiencing severe tightness in my right leg that I just associated with running but come to find out was just an symptom of the flattening of my arch (according to the doctor) caused by the improper use of two insoles. Apparently, too much support is just as bad for your feet/specifically your arch and achilles and is compounded by repetive motion. (running lots of miles on bad shoes).
I really enjoyed this store last year, and appreciated how they supported the community during the YMCA turkey trot, but my 5 months of training for the Houston Chevron is pretty much ruined and I definitely attribute it to the shoes I was recommended by the original salewoman and then the advice I was given for remedying...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEvery year since 2018 Iāve traveled to Texas to run the Texas Independence Relay and each time Good Times Running Company has been relay exchange point 30. They are there feeding runners delicious breakfast tacos and providing other snacks. The store is open and they have their winter apparel on sale. Its always fun and everyone is so friendly and helpful. I have purchased quite a few items of their Good Times Running Co branded items. I now have several zip up jackets (they are so soft) as well as t-shirts, joggers, and socks from them. This year I decided to go ahead and ask about shoes since I had time. Iād been in an Adidas Boston forever but the Adizero is different from the flexible, comfortable, shoe I was used to from past models. I was finally ready to try a new brand after getting some gnarly blisters the weekend before. The salesperson listened to what I was looking for in a shoe and suggested a Puma. I walked out with a new pair that morning and Iām loving them. Another excellent experience I had with them was once I noticed someone accidentally forgot to apply the same price of something and when I called Morgan took care of me right away. She had me send over a picture of my receipt and it was resolved in minutes. No hassles, no issues. I wish I lived closer (I live in Ohio) but since I donāt Iāll make a point to always give them my...
