Sushi Neato — Restaurant in Katy

Unfortunately I have to downgrade my review to 1 star. The quality plummeted with the original owner. The new owners admit that they know nothing about Sushi and rely on the staff. The staff unfortunately is not really into food safety. I have been sicken here three times. The chefs leave the glass case doors open on the fish cases even when there are no customers. This is like trying to keep your food safe home while leaving the refrigerator door open. I was cool the first time they poisoned me and thought perhaps it was just a fluke.

I eat mostly tradditional sashimi and nigeri.

I would avoid going to this place.

Sushi Neato is a great little Sushi joint.

This is a simple review. This is an excellent Sushi restaurant. The owner who is actually of Korean heritage, seems to really appreciated quality fish. Their Uni (Sea Urchin) is really, very, very good. It is always fresh (as of the writing of this review)

I am worried about them as a restaurant. With all of the competition I am afraid that attention to detail and very high quality products might be difficult to maintain.

If you love sushi/sashimi or more modern specialty rolls, give this place a try.

The ambiance is great, the owner seems very nice, I think you will find that, especially for those with kind of a refined pallet, that this place is worth a visit.

I would like to say that one day I was in this restaurant, a customer complained about seeing a bug. And by bug, let's be honest, I mean large roach.

I am very, very tough on restaurants in reference to health and safety. The couple that saw the bug was sitting next to a door. I believe that the bug probably came in from outside.

I generally sit at the bar and observe the kitchen closely. It is clean, and the sushi artists seem quite aware of food safety (ever been to a sushi restaurant where they don't close the glass in their fish case? Very bad..)

So, I am not sure if that has been mentioned, but again, in the five or six visits I have had here, I have found the quality of the food to be impeccable, the restaurant to be clean, and the chefs and staff to follow health and safety...

I wish i could give this less than 1 star honestly. Me and my family had a HORRIBLE time here. So my mom and her bf had come to this place a week ago and they spoke really highly about it and they wanted to take me there for my birthday so we did. We walk in, everything is fine, super friendly people. After we get our drinks and appetizers, 1 hour goes by and no one has come over to refill drinks or ask if we were ready to order. We didn’t say anything we just flagged someone down and asked if we could order. At this point we weren’t really hungry but we ordered anyways. It took about 45 minutes before the first plate came and another 10 for the next and so on. My 4 year old sister was the last to get her meal which didn’t come with silverware or anything. As we are eating, we weren’t happy but we had our food and we just wanted to eat and go. Suddenly this lady comes up to our table VERY aggressively ( she turned out to be the owner) the very first thing she said was “ we just had a child die so i should be at a funeral right now, what can i help you with “ From the start we felt very manipulated and so then she accused my moms bf of touching her which DID not happen and that’s when i spoke up and cussed her out. She said we were “ dismissed “ from her restaurant lol. She was most definitely on some type of drug, very out of wack. Food is amazing here but customer service is just another story. go here at...

My first time trying Sushi Neato was more than what I expected! I placed an order this past Sunday. The owner was super sweet and that’s what counts the most. The food was.. (chef’s kiss)!!!!

I ordered Brussel sprouts, avocado fries, the monkey roll, the crunch roll, the fried California roll and the shaggy dog roll.

OH MY SWEET DEAR LORD! Those Brussel sprouts… my mouth is watering now for some, probably my most FAVORITE thing from this order!

The monkey roll was good except it had raw salmon and I was under the impression that the salmon would be cooked and because I’m not a consumer of raw meat I removed the salmon, but the flavors were SPOT ON!

The crunch roll… I absolutely loved the amount of “crunchies” that came on top of the roll. It’s a savory yet fresh flavor. Will most definitely be ordering this roll again!

The fried California roll is EXACTLY what it’s named! The deep fried deliciousness definitely caused this roll to be my favorite. I loved it and these are big rolls. You can share if you want, but umm I’m not a sharer. :)

The shaggy dog is a fave also, next time I’m adding cream cheese!

The avocado fries were my least favorite because of lacked flavor. The garlic aïoli was a bit overpowering and the consistency was thick like mayonnaise. Maybe if the avocado fries had a drizzle of spicy Mayo and eel sauce they would become a top seller for sure!
