Do your self a favor and find another spot for Thai food. We felt insulted, unhappy and un-Thai spirited after visiting this place.
TLDR: Average food. High prices. Small portion size. Angry owner. Bad service The food if you get your order right is fine, but the wait, service and tantrums are horrendus.
We went to Bangkok Times as they had posted on Next door as a local business, and we wanted to support them. The place looked very popular and very busy, but our experience of being greeted was fine, and we got their last free table almost immediately around 7:50 PM. Once we were seated we were soon greeted and were brought water, soon after our orders were taken this was probably around 8:00 PM. We were a group of 5 people and made a few orders, and kept waiting. They have around 20 tables, and had only 2 servers and 2 kitchen staff. Our Apetizer Beef Jerkey and Iced Tea came after 30 minutes, and as we could see that they were short staffed we were considerate. Later after 40 minutes we got our order of Khao Soi and Pad Kee Mao in which Pad Kee Mao was prepared incorrectly with tomatoes which we had asked them to exclude, when we expressed our disconcern for the same our server was ready to remake it but when we asked how long it will take she said it will take time, so we took the incorrect order anyways as we were still hungry. After that they got Masaman Curry but forgot Stone Fried Rice that we orderd. When we said we are still waiting on it, they got us their regular fried rice and this time we refused to take that order. Another table which was seated 15 minutes, made order for the same and they got their food before us time is 9:45. Over 1.5 hours and we were still not served the food, and that was the limit so I went and cancelled my remaining order, they had added an 18% gratuity and on my request they removed the same as the service was bad. They acknowledged and I was about to leave, when the owner of the resturant came in good faith apologizing, we expressed our concerns with the food order being incorrect and service issues. Soon she had a break down she started crying, as she was short staffed and in her defense she started attacking us by stating how she has been learning recipies for over 16 years so she can make good food and 2 of her kitchen staff cancelled at last minute that day and they were short staffed and our concerns were not valid as she was trying to do something good and we were pushing her down, and if we don't like the place we should not come back rather than giving her feedback. After that she left crying and her husband came to us apologized but mentioned that he was not happy, they are very wealthy and don't need to go through this, his wife is passionate about the resturant and cooking good food and she does that out of passion not for necessity. He was empathatic towards us and was not happy that we were not served well, but more than that he was not happy because his wife had a break down and she does not deserve it. He probably understands customer service better, and requested us to give them another opportunity in future. I appreciate that the couple as they deeply cares about each other, but if My friends and I have to leave a resturant after spending 2 hours in there empty stomach I am not happy as a customer. I don't think that we did anything wrong, but provided our feedback and voiced out our genuine concerns which seems to have gone on deaf ears. As requested by the resturant owner Neither I, nor my friends may go...
Read moreWe arrived as a group of five, eager to dive into authentic Thai flavors, but from start to finish our experience at Bangkok Times Thai Cuisine in Cinco Ranch was a fiasco. First, we placed four dishes and waited over an hour to receive the very first one. Meanwhile, tables seated after us—ordering the same dishes—had already eaten and left. No one alerted us to the delay or offered an apology; the staff simply vanished. When the food finally did arrive, it was incorrect and flavorless. Our Pad See Ew—requested without tomatoes—was drowning in them. Every entree was bland, and none came medium spicy as promised. Our Thai tea took nearly thirty minutes to appear, by which point half our table had already given up hope. Service was all but nonexistent. One of us had to get up repeatedly to find a waiter, and when we tried ordering more food, the servers looked hesitant, as though we were a burden. Frustrated and still hungry, we decided to close out our tab early—no comped items, no discount, just a full charge for a terrible meal. Finally, we attempted to give feedback to the owner. Instead of listening, she threw a tantrum: shouting at us to never come back, then storming off into the kitchen. So many tears, yelling, and zero professionalism. They later blamed “being short-staffed,” but if you can’t handle the rush, you should at least communicate that to your customers. We left feeling insulted, unhappy, and decidedly unThai-spirited. Do yourself a favor and find another spot...
Read moreI am an avid foodie and I have eaten at many Thai restaurants. My experience at Bangkok Times has been nothing short of pleasant. The service was genuine and sincere. As with many restaurants experiencing a soft open the popularity and good food can make the restaurant a victim of their own success.
Tonight’s experience at approximately 8:00 pm 7/26/2025 gave a front row seat to an unruly Indian guest. While the staff went through great lengths to accommodate the unruly Indian guest, nothing seemed to satisfy them even though this unruly Indian guest ate all the food ordered, they continued to denigrate the restaurant host and staff while repeatedly monopolizing the staff by constantly making peace meal demands for condiments , spices and the sort all while getting drunk.
All too often I have witnessed how Indian patrons have sought to game local restaurants by ordering volumes of food only to complain excessively and then request that the restaurant comp their meals.
I normally don’t like to isolate one particular race or group but this has become an obvious pattern plaguing the hard working local businesses.
Bangkok Times is an amazing restaurant that has gone out of their way to accommodate me during my culinary experience and I am confident that if you seek to entertain while enjoying good food in a clean venue, the highly attentive wait staff at Bangkok Times should be first on your...
