Disappointing Fish Tacos Experience in an Overrated Food Truck Scene
Review: I recently tried the fish tacos at this food truck in Hawaii, and I must say, I was quite underwhelmed. For $16, you would expect to receive a satisfying meal, but unfortunately, that was not the case. The two tacos I received were filled with fish that lacked any discernible flavor. It was as if the fish had no seasoning or character at all, leaving me feeling like I was eating bland, uninspired food. To add insult to injury, the tacos were accompanied by a side of rice and beans, which did little to elevate the overall experience. While I appreciate the effort to provide a complete meal, the lackluster taste of the fish left much to be desired. These food trucks on Hawaii are generally overrated and almost feel like a tourist trap, with few exceptions. It's disappointing to see such high prices for mediocre food, especially in a place known for its culinary offerings. Overall, I left the food truck feeling disappointed and unlikely to return, opting instead to seek out better dining options...
Read moreWe stopped here for a quick lunch after arriving on Kauai. We thoroughly our meal.
There were plenty of options to choose from. We tried the Al Pastor tacos and the Fresh Fish tacos. We didn't have a long wait for either, and they both were excellent. The prices were reasonable (for Hawaii) and the included rice and beans sides make this a filling meal and good value.
The staff were very friendly and were very helpful. The truck and the outdoor tables were very clean. The decor is fun, and sitting outside to enjoy lunch was enjoyable.
The only complaint is that there are multiple food trucks and they are all on top of one another here. It would be more enjoyable if they were spread out a bit more, but this isn't a deal breaker.
Do yourself a favor and enjoy...
Read moreThe Ahi Tuna fish tacos were GREAT. I don't like tuna or sushi/sashimi. However, while I was deciding what other thing to order, the owner assured me that many people had told her that they don't like tuna but liked her fish tacos. She said it was because they were so fresh. She'd purchased them at the market that morning.
The fish was indeed delicious. It wasn't fishy at all. It was freshly grilled and came in two small corn tortillas, which nearly tasted homemade. The rice was also delicious.
The taco truck is in a permanent location and is easy to spot form the road thanks to the painted surfboard sign. There are a few other food trucks in the same spot, and each truck has its own covered picnic tables...
