El Rey Del Mar Food Truck — Restaurant in Kauai

Funny how many of the eateries on Kauai are food trucks! This one was a pleasure. Good, tasty, authentic Mexican food. Busy place shows how well received their offerings are. Our group of 7 family members actually went back a 2nd time! I had a chicken chimichanga on our 1st visit. (Don't go later in the day as they may run out of ingredients: They ran out of steak on me, so that is why I got chicken.) Others in our party got taco salads which looked delicious. I got a carnitas burrito on our 2nd visit and it was delicious. The carnitas were a favorite amongst our group. There are outside tables if you'd like to eat there, or the beach is very close as well. Parking is limited as there is an Indian and a vegan food truck in the same little area, along with a little bar/eatery also. Its funny: The Al Pastor food truck on the other side of the neighboring furniture store was rated higher, but that place was never open! This place is nothing less than amazing. I’m not a big fan of Mexican food but even someone like me was blown away. The food was soooo good. Staff was so friendly and shows genuine care for who comes through the doors. My 6 month old was with us and they brought a high chair. I should have gotten his name but the man at the host stand saw my son kept reaching for the menu, so he went out of his way to grab a blanket sheet of paper for my son to play with. And it always seemed like they knew what we wanted before we did. They made it so welcoming. I would gladly come back and highly recommend this place to anyone. Tiny little food truck serving up BIG flavors. Might be some of the best tacos I've ever had. Hubby and I traded tacos from getting an order of two each and both were delicious. Octopus Tacos had great sauce and cooked perfectly - you can tell how fresh by the buttery texture. Grilled fish enchilada taco was especially good with the added hot sauce. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for seafood tacos with flavor at a reasonable price. We parked in the lot next door which seemed fine, we ate so quickly at the picnic tables there that not sure if you can get in trouble parking...
