Dark Horse Coffee on Kauai — coffee heaven AND adventure HQ! ☕️💻🌿 Let me start by saying: Cortado with Haupia Foam = my new religion. Creamy coconut foam meets rich espresso? Dark Horse, you’ve ruined all other coffee for me. 🙏 But this place isn’t just about next-level drinks. The space itself is magic — airy, bright, with that cool industrial-chic vibe. Perfect for camping out with mylaptop (shoutout to the massive tables and chill playlist). Pro tip: Come early to claim a spot by the leafy windows — ultimate coworking zen! And can we talk about the staff? So friendly! The barista Mickle even gave me trail recommendations after I mentioned hiking Waimea Canyon. Speaking of… This is THE spot to fuel up pre-adventure! Grabbed my cortado, inhaled almond cake(✨), and was canyon-bound in 50 minutes. Proximity to nature + caffeine excellence = unmatched combo. 10/10 would caffeinate here daily. See you tomorrow, Dark Horse. (And yes, I’ll be ordering the same thing.) P.S. Charging stations + strong Wi-Fi = productivity win!

Simple espresso review with customer service The good: -this is still 4x better than Starbucks -the lady working the cash register acknowledged me by name and took time to be engage even when busy. Cringe: -Barista used a cold cup(drank in a porcelain espresso cup) - frustrating when I asked for it to sit and enjoy it hot. I'm now sipping on it lukewarm -poured it in instead of just having the machine pour it right into my cup - this making it slightly colder again. When paying for exactly 2 ounces of liquid gold, there's a few things that should be done right and DH has done half of them really well, but these last few touches almost negated the rest. Again. This spot is still 4x better than Starbucks or any other generic spot. They make some bomb drinks and I'll be back, but a little upping of their game is needed.

Wonderful coffee shop experience in peaceful Koloa. What to say: huge windows, bright natural light, calm ocean breezes coming through artistic slat windows; there is even a small, yet refreshingly pleasant art gallery. All these features are accentuated by the aroma of a rather wide selection of ground coffees and the attentive staff of baristas who prepare the drinks. It is a great atmosphere to relax and recuperate or even perhaps study while partaking of some the delicious assortment of light and simple food items offered (see attached pictures of the current menu offerings). They even have free Wi-Fi, just ask the barista for the current password. By far the best coffee shop experience on the Southern half of the island, a must see!

This little coffee shop is one of my favorite spots on Kauai. It's in Koloa town, which is an absolutely charming place where my grandpa grew up, and it's full of history. This coffee shop actually sits in what was once the old Hongwanji Buddhist temple right under a huge tree that shades everything with its lush green light. Amazing spot. I definitely come here every time I'm on the island, sit outside and soak in the ambience. Add in the super friendly service; I had a great chat with the manager Helena about things to do on the Southside and how the town has changed over the years, and you just have a lovely spot to spend the afternoon. Not to mention the coffee is roasted in house and they even have a really solid decaf (cuz I can't handle my caffeine). I definitely recommend this spot to anyone in need of a coffee kick and a little conversation. I can't...

I stumbled upon Dark Horse while looking for a cozy breakfast stop, and it did not disappoint! This little gem has everything you could want—perfectly brewed coffee, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The coffee is smooth and flavorful, with just the right balance of richness and strength. Whether you’re into a classic drip or something fancier like a latte, they nail it every time. But the real star? Their breakfast sandwiches. Freshly made with high-quality ingredients, they’re hearty, satisfying, and packed with flavor. The bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted brioche bun was perfection!

On top of the great food and drinks, the service was fantastic. The staff was friendly and quick, making sure everyone felt at home. Whether you’re grabbing something to-go or enjoying a relaxed morning, this spot is a must-visit. Can’t wait...
