Gillies — Restaurant in Kearney

I travel alot for work and just happened to stop in Kearney for the night. I Googled different bars in the area. Initially I was really excited to go here because it was St. Paddy's Day and I wanted to find a good bar with food and good vibes. All was good until one of the bartenders became grumpy because I had a question about my food. The shorter dark haired girl with the blonde chunks in the front of her hair and a green top hat. It wasn't Carly(she was super nice) I understand that they were REALLY busy serving drinks so stress was high. But I was patient. I ordered corned beef and cabbage. At first she said they ran out. But then she came back and said they had a little left and she put a plate in front of me. I assumed they probably scraped the last of what was left on my plate, because after further inspection I realized there was NO meat, barely any cabbage, pretty much only potatoes. I asked the other guy behind the counter for assistance (as to not bother her again) if I could get more of whatever meat they had left. But he didn't know about the food so he asked her anyway. She came up to me, asked what I needed, then after I told her she exhanged looks with Carly (the other female bartender) and rolled her eyes at me. She thought I didn't see her because she had her back turned to me a little...but I SAW her...Then they brought back a little bowl of corned beef. This made me question why they didn't give me any meat the first time I ordered ???Anyway, as a first timer at this bar, visiting purely off the good reviews, I'll say I'm DISAPPOINTED. This interaction made me feel SO uncomfortable I wanted to leave immediately. The ONLY reason I stayed a little longer was because I met a SUPER sweet girl at the bar (Morgan)who also just happens to work there. She saw that I was upset and did what she could to make sure I was comfortable and having a good time. Seriously! Great customer service on her end and she wasn't even on duty. I avoided ordering from that bartender anymore because I didn't want to annoy her further. 🙄

I wouldn't recommend Gillie's based SOLEY on that one bartender's attitude. I will admit that her attitude improved a little bit later on and I think it's because she realized that I saw her roll her eyes at me and that she needed to chill out. So maybe I could willingly recommend this place after she gets some customer...

Gillies has a wide variety of primo liqors and bartenders with the knowledge of how to make a great deal of the old classics like (an old fashion) as well as the latest shots like cucumber etc. They have a great patio area for smokers and people who like the outdoors with plenty of seating with a pool table and a plug if you need to charge up your phone real quick. It is a great looking and comfortable space where they also host different games like putt putt golf ? Not quite sure if the name is right but they host games on the patio I love this small townKearney, Nebraska Bar the staff and management are super friendly and A shout out to Grady (manager) Brandy super great bartender and Jason always friendly and attentive.This is my review I am as honest as I can be .I can always count on getting fast service , feel welcomed and at ease due to regular customers who are super friendly and if you love a good old fashion cocktail that tastes like you were in an great jazz club in a manhatten hotel then Gillie's and one of their Bartenders on staff can make it for you çheck it out today! .Thanks for reading !...

I've been going to Gillies for the last couple of months. But recently it has been an awful experience. Every single time I go in I'm accused of doing stuff that I've never done. And it's because the women bartender like to start rumors and drama. The food is good but I would not recommend bar services. After making a post on Facebook I thought the problems would slow down and correct their mistakes but they just got worse. I made the post after one of their women bartender try to kick me out of a seat that she had left an hour earlier but demanding she got it back because she worked there. And even the customers are trying to fight me that know the owners. It's a very toxic aggressive environment and I would not recommend...
