Leo's Italian Ice & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Kearny

Very good ice cream, I love the place but today’s customer service between the two girls working today (05/19/25), were very rude and seemed like they had an attitude. My 10 year old had asked for an ice cream that was on the list and the lady, her tone being very nasty said “We do not have that.” My 10 year old replied saying it’s fine and chose a different ice cream. I then ordered my ice cream and the lady had read back the order, I said yes to everything she read back and she went to go make the ice cream with her colleague. Returning back she gave me the wrong ice cream and when I nicely corrected her she said “This is what you ordered.” In a nasty tone once again. She then continued to go back and remake it while shaking her head and talking about us to her other colleague in the back. And once she came back with the right order she slammed it on the table and left without a word. This happened at around 8, and I found this behavior from both of these employees unprofessional. It’s sad that I have to write this review considering we love your ice cream, but unfortunately this is not something that can be taken lightly especially when it comes down to being downright disrespectful to my child. Leo's ice cream is a breathe of fresh air or a dreamy creamy scoop in this neighborhood which was missing a place like Leo's. They have delicious ice cream and Italian ices with good prices. They also change the ice cream flavors often so you can always look forward to a yummy surprise. There's no parking lot but there's usually parking on the streets and there's outside seating which seems to be enough for everyone that stops by. Everything about this place makes me glad this gem is so close to home. I would venture to say it's the best ice cream in NJ, not just in town. The girls attending are always nice, too. The flavors my family and I love are cinnamon churro, strawberry shortcake and there ices.
