Sol Azteca Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Kearny

Was craving a burrito for weeks and ordered two for pick up here because of the great reviews. However, the burritos are pretty much a meat quesadilla (wrapped burrito style) with a side of rice/beans and salad. Biting into this I got SOME meat with Plenty of the tortilla wrap. So this is a deconstructed burrito and a real let down. This is not a burrito! If I wanted a family style plate of rice and beans, I would of ordered that. On another note the Steak was okay, Pastor was better. Either way, i’m not coming back. Please see photos.

I came back. I ordered in person, I was just walking by and thought this was my first time trying this place. My BF ordered a platter of chicken Milanese with rice and beans and I got an order of steak tacos, steak was chewy and had no flavor at all. Chicken platter- no flavor as well. Everything was extremely bland and underwhelming, I came back to check this place on google only to find that I had already reviewed this place last year and was equally dissatisfied the first time. Only this time was worse, changing my score from 3 stars to 2.

We love everything about this Restaurant . Only Mexican Restaurant that have handmade tortillas!!!! What!!!!!!!!!😳 If have never experienced the taste of a hand made tortillas taco you must try this amazing place!!!!!😃

I have been going to Sol Azteca for a year now. My husband and I absolutely love it! I remember the first time I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the owners, who are extremely kind and knowledgeable of their food. Every time I go to Sol Azteca, it feels like I am eating a delicious home cooked meal, because the food is hearty and the staff treat you like you are one of their own, a part of their family.

I love every item on the menu, but my top six are the following:

1. Carne enchilada en platillo/Tacos de carne enchilada/Torta, Cemita de carne enchilada (Pretty much everything with their carne enchilada on it. It's SO good, please try it!)
2. Mixto de Molcajete
3. Milanesa de pollo
4. Cemita de pollo
5. Tacos de Res
6. Agua de Horchata / Tamarindo
