Las Palapas was one of my favorite places to eat when I lived in San Antonio. When I moved to Fort Worth, I was a little bummed that they didn't really have too much like it around me, so when they announced the Keller location, I was pretty excited!
Just ate there today and it was well worth the wait! Sadly, they were out of chips at the time we went (we were REALLY looking forward to the chips and queso with picadillo added - it's the best!), but oh well. Items I'd recommend: Taco Norteno, Puffy Tacos (I prefer the chicken, but honestly the beef ones are really good as well), the LP Superbowl, their burritos.....really, it's all good, and I'm very happy they're open!
Edit: Well, after a GREAT first order, every order since has been garbage. I don't know how or why their quality is so far off from what it should be, but every employee here should be made to go to San Antonio to taste what makes Las Palapas different. Instead, they're just haphazardly throwing items together with no regard to people who actually have had Las Palapas before, and really for anyone who eats here. This was supposed to be my 8 oz Chips and queso with picadillo added. Instead I got this abomination (without the chips even!!!) I guess I'll keep updating as they continue to fail. They're...
Read moreI'll start with I rarely share a bad experience as I try and focus on the positive. This was a 0 stars. We went opening weekend to this place and it was just OK. My wife wanted to give them another try. I was thoroughly disappointed from start to finish this go round. My lemonade was lemon flavored water. My fish tacos were fish sticks wrapped in a tortilla. My wife got "beef al carbon" and got chicken, which delayed the awful experience even more. One of the hot sauces tasted like cocktail sauce. The Guacamole bowl had no flavor. I tried getting a tea (due to lemonade issue), but that never showed up. Even though staff outnumbered the patrons at 730 pm, I had to look at dirty tables full of plates and drinks for at least 20 minutes all around us while dining. The bar area was popular...for the staff! At one point there were 5 employees hanging out in the small bar area. The cleanliness of the men's restroom was no better. Very disappointed and...
Read moreThis is a new restaurant for DFW, but it's been around for 40 years. Started in San Antonio where they have 13 restaurants, I'm glad they decided to come to Keller. They took over and remodeled a Dairy Queen. The building still has the look and feel of a fast food restaurant, but don't let that fool you. They have a full bar, hostess seating, etc. inside. The seating is limited, but the manager told me they plan to expand the patio with covered seating and heaters. Las Palapas truly is great food at a great price. Everything is made fresh daily. They offer 3 types of salsa (the green is the hottest; the roasted pepper is mild). I went for lunch and ordered my basics, cheese and beef enchiladas, crispy taco, rice and beans. Everything was muy bueno! They do need to work on their bar pricing. I paid $7 for a Blood and Honey on tap. We don't pay that much for beer in this town! But the food was only $11 for a large combo plate, so it all...
