My wife and I recently visited this Yorkville location on March 16, 2014. We have visited Southern's Belle's many times over the past several years. While we were eating our meal, the staff was busy cleaning-up the restaurant and had the mop bucket out by the restaurant entrance. There were about 5-6 other tables with customers in them yet. As there were probably about 45-50 minutes until the restaurant closed, I felt we were inconveniencing the staff by eating there. We paid for our meal and left the restaurant.
We made it about 2 blocks down Rt 47 and realized that we had forgotten her leftovers on the table. By the time, we left, turned around and got back to the restaurant the waitress had thrown out the leftovers. I asked the waitress for the manager. She told me that the manager was gone for the day. I then asked her if I could talk with person in charge. She then told me that there wasn't anyone there. I told her that I highly doubted that and wanted to talk with the person in charge. She then stared at me blankly for a few moments and then walked away.
I then met with the "person in charge" by the cashier area. I then told her want happened in regards to leaving and returning to find the food tossed out. This lady told me that as a matter of policy that they can't keep food due to bacteria that accumulates. I told her that we were only briefly gone and that it took us a few minutes to turn around in downtown Yorkville due to the construction. I asked her if there was anything she could do. She told me that "I don't know what you want me to do" and that "our kitchen was closing". It should be noted that at this point it was about 2:35 PM and that the restaurant closes at 3 PM.
My experience at this location had been great until this visit. I sent an email to the company comments email the same day and failed to receive a response within a week. Southern Belle's apparently does not care about how they treat...
Read morewe have been here numerous times before with excellent service and people (huge shout out to jessica and jill, chad and i love you both so much and love getting seated in your sections). today the reason i am giving it 2 out of 5 is because we got sat in a section by one of the rudest servers i’ve ever encountered. i honestly feel guilty writing this but when chad (my boyfriend) pointed this out too i knew i wasn’t over thinking this. Robin completely ignored me while we were sat, the whole time she was focused on my boyfriend, but when i would talk she wouldn’t look at me (still looking at him when asking for my order), when we sat she came for our drinks and i asked for a water at first cus i was still deciding. when we ordered food she asked for my boyfriends, went to walk away before asking for mine, then stopped, dramatically sighed and said “and you??”. i said i wanted a pepsi too and she rolled her eyes at me. we saw her running around to other tables but very rarely came to us, when she did come to us however she only focused on my boyfriend. when we got full and were waiting for the check we were waiting for what felt like 10+ minutes, she passed us multiple times while we tried flagging her down. when she FINALLY came by us, she looked at my boyfriends plate and very rudely said “you have to finish that”. him and i awkwardly laughed it off as he replied “can we get the boxes and check?” she again, rolled her eyes and stomped off. came back with boxes handed them to him and said “have a good day” ONLY TO HIM. she completely ignored me the whole time and when my boyfriend and i got in the car he expressed how uncomfortable she made him feel. i’m sorry i’m writing such a long and negative review, my boyfriend and i love coming here and we will still come by, but from now on we just have to ask to not be seated by...
Read moreI visited this establishment in Yorkville on April 7th 2025 at approximately 11:50am and had a very upsetting experience. I attempted to order an alcoholic beverage and presented my valid, unexpired government-issued ID to the employee serving me and my partner. She was an older white woman that had a short bob like cut with a sleeve of tattoos and tattoos on her fingers as well. Despite my ID clearly showing that I am of legal drinking age and being fully valid with a future expiration date, the employee refused to serve me. When I asked why, she stated it was due to the orientation of my ID. I found this explanation completely illogical and frankly, discriminatory. A valid ID is a valid ID, regardless of whether it's held horizontally or vertically. Beyond the nonsensical reason for denial, the interaction left me feeling deeply uncomfortable. Based on the employee's demeanor and the baseless reason provided, I unfortunately felt that her refusal to serve me was rooted in prejudice against Black people. As a Black individual, this experience was incredibly disheartening and made me feel unwelcome in this establishment. To be denied service for such an arbitrary and frankly, bizarre reason, especially when my identification was completely valid, is unacceptable. This kind of treatment is not only bad for business but also creates a hostile environment. It's very disappointing to encounter such potential prejudice in Yorkville. I hope management will address this issue and educate their staff on what constitutes valid identification and the importance of treating all customers with respect and fairness, regardless of their race. I will be reporting this incident further to the IDHR, it’s 2025 and I will not stand for...
