I love the uplifting purpose of this coffee shop. This is from their web site "We are a non-profit corporation that runs a coffee shop in a facility that provides vocational training, education and employment opportunities to adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities." Adults with cognitive and intellectual disabilities are twice as likely to be unemployed as the general population despite having skills and the willingness to work hard. The mission of Our Grounds is to provide self esteem boosting meaningful jobs to this underserved segment of the community.
I have had Our Grounds bookmarked forever but the timing never worked out right because they close kind of early, at 4:30 everyday. I was finally in the area at the right time and I am so glad I was able to stop by this lovely coffee shop for an afternoon java fix. They have a cute little patio area outside and a welcoming interior with couches, tables, and chairs. They provide wifi so you can work as you sip and nosh. The menu includes a variety of coffee and tea drinks, croissants, toast, bagels, and baked goods along with weekly specials like ice cream by Sweet Lichs.
I ordered an iced latte and an almond croissant. The latte was delicious and the croissant was very fresh. They were perfect afternoon pick me up. You can support Our Grounds by visiting the physical location but you can also make a donation on their website. They are looking for volunteers and local businesses to partner with them. I would love to see their shops and...
Read moreOur Grounds is a pretty hidden coffee spot but it was such a cute find. They have inside and outside seating, and if it wasn’t so hot outside would’ve been my preferred choice. Inside is nice but it’s always a bit crowded so keep that in mind if you’re with a larger party. That’s the only reason I give atmosphere 4/5 because of the crowdedness but everything else is 5/5
The food and coffee selections are awesome! I tried their egg croissant with bacon and cheese, and it was fantastic. They have a multitude of pastries to choose from and I absolutely loved their blueberry muffin. The coffee is great too, last time I got the Maple Latte, and while it was good it didn’t really impress me, but the honey lavender I got this time around is something that I know I will crave in the future.
This is a pretty dog friendly spot, they have people come in with their dogs and sit outside with them, so if that’s not your vibe then I’d say avoid it here.
As I said in my past review I was going to give this place a try again and I’m upping the stars. I think the coffee I got last time just didn’t do it for me but I’m happy I was able to try...
