I live within walking distance of this Sushi Sake, so I’ve been a frequent customer for quite some time. As usual, I ordered the house wine, a few appetizers, and my main course. Oddly, my main dish came out first—no big deal. Then my son’s main arrived… and finally, my appetizers. My mother’s entrée never showed up at all. After waiting 45 minutes, I had to ask for it to be taken off the bill.
The service was disappointing, especially considering there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant. What’s most surprising is that I’ve had the same waitress before—and as I mentioned, I’ve been here countless times. But this time, there was zero acknowledgment, no apology, and absolutely no accountability. I was made to feel like it was my fault for not reminding them about our missing order.
When the check came, I noticed I’d been charged $18 per glass for the house wine—something I’ve ordered many times before at a much lower price. When I questioned it, the waitress became argumentative, treating me like a stranger instead of a loyal customer.
To make matters worse, the margarita my mom ordered was awful—though, to be fair, the bartender did offer to "fix it," which we politely declined. Adding to my frustration, I had to ask three separate times for a to-go box. They did eventually remove one of the wine charges, but honestly, that’s not the real issue. The larger concern is that the overall quality of service at this location has seriously declined.
That said, there was a gentleman—possibly the bartender—who was very kind and genuinely tried to make things right. Maybe the waitress could learn a thing or two from him. I strongly suggest management have a talk with the staff to remind them that both their tips and the restaurant’s reputation depend on providing attentive,...
Read moreI absolutely enjoyed my late lunch at this restaurant! I picked this place randomly because of its high rating on Google Reviews, and it did not disappoint me at all. The restaurant is big, it looks nice inside, and everything was perfectly clean. My friend and I were seated right away, around 4 p.m. By the way, there is plenty of free parking around the restaurant. Our waiter was a very sweet and friendly guy who served us quickly. All the staff seemed nice, and I also noticed that just younger people were working there. The menu is pretty big, with a large selection of different Japanese dishes. Luckily, there was a Happy Hour menu, so we decided to try rolls from that menu. We ordered the California Roll, JB Roll, and Miami Heat Roll. Every single roll was delicious! The fish in each roll was extremely fresh! The rice was cooked very nicely - it was pretty soft. Anyway, we really enjoyed the food. We both agreed that the JB Roll was our absolute favorite, so I highly recommend ordering it. For drinks, we ordered Peach Iced Tea, and it was good and very flavorful; maybe a bit too sweet, to be honest. Refills for the iced tea were free. Honestly, I don’t really remember the prices on the regular menu, but the Happy Hour menu prices were very reasonable. For example, the JB Roll was just $7, which was a great deal! Plus, the portions were big. Two rolls per person were absolutely enough to feel full and satisfied. I am definitely interested in coming back to this restaurant again to try more items from the menu. I absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for Japanese food. By the way, this restaurant is a chain, and you can find it all over Miami if you don’t want to travel all the way to the Sunset area, which is not...
Read moreThis is a long overdue review. Back in summer 2022 when I was visiting in Miami; I was on my way to another Sushi restaurant, but traffic forced me to turn into Sushi Sake Sunset instead. I'm glad I did. The sushi was amazing - good size rolls with a lot of fish and a great variety. Not a lot of those fried/cooked sushi rolls that other places build into the menu these days but rather real sushi. Drinks were also great - a good variety and bar tenders knew what they were doing. Not too strong or weak and good flavor to everything I tried.
Gonzalo (manager/owner) had a very inviting character to him and engaged with me and other customers upon entering and throughout the meal. The first thing I said to him when I walked in was "You are lucky for the traffic that I ended up here" and his response was "You tell me who was lucky after you have your meal". He was right. I was the lucky one.
Alexis was also an amazing server; very attentive, knew all the food and drinks and made some great recommendations. I probably had both more food and drink than I planned due to her recommendations. I could see her asking Gonzalo questions along the way too to constantly be improving her own server skills.
I don't see myself in this area again anytime soon but if I find myself there, I have no doubt I would make my way here for at least one meal. I highly recommend it to those in the area or...
