An experience that transported me back to my childhood in Cuba
Today was my first time visiting Yordy’s Delight, and I honestly don’t have enough words to describe what I felt. From the very first bite, something deep inside me stirred — the food wasn’t just delicious… it took me straight back to my childhood in Cuba. It felt like I was sitting once again in my grandparents’ backyard in Pinar del Río, eating food made with love, with patience, and with a true respect for authentic Cuban flavors.
We ordered chicharrones, arroz moro, croquetas, tamal en hoja, and lemonade. And every single item was fresh, made to order, perfectly cooked, and seasoned with a touch that’s hard to find these days. The rice had that flavor that’s almost impossible to come by now… the kind you remember vividly, but don’t know where to find again. And the tamal… my God, what a treat. Impeccable texture, soft and tender, wrapped in a leaf just like it should be, with a pure, natural, exquisite flavor. Truly like the ones from back in the day.
The chicharrones? The cherry on top — crispy, flavorful, exactly as hyped on social media… and let me tell you, they delivered beyond expectations. They brought back a little piece of my homeland.
But beyond the food, there’s something else you can’t fake: the warmth of the people. Yordy and his team welcome you with kindness, humility, and the feeling that you’re part of the family. You can feel the passion, the pride in what they do, and the joy of serving truly good food. This isn’t just a food truck — it’s a piece of Cuba on wheels.
Thank you, Yordy, for reminding me who I am, where I come from, and how beautiful it is to reconnect with the flavors of childhood. I left happy, grateful, and with a full heart.
