Ocean Roll — Restaurant in Kennebunk

What an understated gem. We had actually given up on lobster rolls because Clam Shack had closed for season. We usually go up to Bar Harbor every year with our designated food stops. But man oh man! The HOT lobster rolls were the stuff of lobster roll dreams. After a few subpar lobster rolls this trip- Ocean Roll delivered big time. We also loved the truck and carnival tent eating area set up. We plan to go back up next weekend. We got both hot and Cold but preferred the hot as the lobster was lightly tossed in butter and the lobster's sweetness was still highlighted and the roll was toasted on the grill. The cold was pretty good but was a little too heavily seasoned- but we still thought it was a solid lobster roll. Just preferred the hot ones. We will have to try the rest of the menu on our next go. I give the ocean roll 5 stars. The ocean roll is like a small restaurant on wheels and their food is very delicious. They are parked on the corner of Route 1 and Ross Road in Kennebunk Maine. In a red white van. A friend and I stopped by there to get a couple of clam baskets. And you know what that is french fries with fried clams and they was delicious. And I guess I'm not the only one that thought so. As we enjoy the meal on Labor Day weekend. Vehicles kept on driving into the lot and there was a line of people ordering food the whole time we was there. And that says a lot. They also have a restroom i n another trailer. I’ve never been more disappointed in a $30 purchase… we have been coming here for years, and this year the food is just not the same. A month ago, I had a similar experience, but wrote it off as a bad day or that maybe they were close to closing as we had went late. Today I ordered fried whole belly clams and am disgusted with my order. These are so slimy and the breading is mooshy, I don’t even know if these are cooked. For a $30 take out meal, with seafood fresh from the area I expected a bit better.
