This was a very unfortunate experience for us. I feel bad for our server because a part of me wants to believe it wasn’t his fault in all this but I don’t know exactly where it all went wrong. 4 people dined in. Greeted and had drinks fairly quickly. Our orders were also taken very quickly. My order however was never correct after three attempts.
There are only two chimichangas meals available for the dinner. Regular or Texan. Texan comes with onions bell peppers and other things inside. I ordered the regular with chicken. Food comes out. Mind you this is a $14-$15 plate and comes with rice and beans. The chimichanga was absolutely pitiful. Not a rectangle, a square. I opened up the chimichanga and the amount of chicken in it was no larger than a small ice cream scoop, to which I picked up ALL of it with just my knife and fork to show the waiter asking if they were serious about the is amount. He agreed that that is what it comes with and I hesitantly scoffed and said ‘wow’. He then proceeded to tell me about the Texan chimichanga. I asked well what’s the price difference (because my whole complaint in the first place is the amount of food you get for the price). He informed me that it’s a lot bigger. I said ok a it’s comes with more chicken? Also I don’t want all that other stuff in it (onions, bell peppers, etc.). He said yes mam we can do that. I said ok reluctantly to just bite the bullet on trying to get a fair amount of food for the price. First attempt, had everything on it. The waiter noticed himself (he didn’t personally run the food out) before I even cut it open to eat, that it had everything in it and took it back for attempt 3 (1st attempt being the sorry amount of chicken in the regular chimichanga). The next one comes out, again not delivered by our waiter, and has everything still in it but the queso that goes on top completely in another bowl and not on the chimichanga… when on earth was that even discussed??? So I said forget it.. I’m not doing this any more and only ate maybe half due to filling up on chips and salsa waiting for my food while the rest of the table ate theirs.
The 3 other guests at my table were not too thrilled about their food but I at least it was correct in what they ordered. I didn’t find what I was asking was complicated or reaching for the stars. Just wanted a chicken chimichanga that wasn’t the size of a postage stamp.
If you have had better experiences here then I’m glad and hope others continue to do so. This is our first time and wanted a dinner before flying out for a trip. It will unfortunately be our last. I did not care for the Texan Chimichanga either. You win some...
Read moreI went to eat at this location and the experience my family and party had I will never go back to eat at this establishment again. First I should start by saying the that later on throughout the day I started throwing up due to me having food poisoning after eating here. The first seating area where they had placed us was very cramped and sunny as they had the windows opened. So I asked if they could seat me and my party somewhere else that wasn’t as cramped and sunny as the the sun lighting made it difficult to see.I had also brought my kids to this location and I asked waiter who was called JB to give me plates so that I can portion out the meal that I had order for my kids as they had all wanted the same dish and because she explained it was a lot I asked for 3 separate plates. At some point I went to bring 2 of my children to the restroom when I had return they had brought the meal out without the plates. I stop to ask one of the waitresses or some lady who worked at the back for the 3 separate plates and she had the worst attitude when I stopped her. Given that I had small children they in fact made a bit of a mess and I had apologize to the waitress on behalf of my kids making a mess JB the waitress had told me it was ok and that she understood kids are sometimes messy and told me she would clean it up. Throughout the whole meal my party had inform to me that the staff was giving dirty looks at me and my party which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. Might I add that my party included 3 adults and 5 small children who are very well behaved children however children have their moments where the are being children and at times the are singing or moving around as the are active kids. I don’t know if the staff stereotype type us because we where black and majority of the people eating their were white with the exception of a table of black women where the originally tried to seat us where it would have been very cramped but I definitely felt uncomfortable and that me and my party were stereotyped and will not be ever going to the Mexican restaurant again as it is our first and last. Might I add even after this experience I tipped the waitress very decently even though I felt she didn’t entirely deserve it as she had forgotten some things I had asked for in...
Read moreVery good service, and very good food. The restaurant is very nice itself, however there is one problem. This place is 100% haunted. I’ve been going to the restaurant for many years now and have never encountered something paranormal. My father has a friend who owns a cleaning company, and after Don Jose was hit by Hurricane Ida, his friend was able to get a job there and spent a few days cleaning it up. Big mistake. They left and never came back. Many workers claimed to see things move by themselves, hear weird noises and many items went missing. Last night, me and my family dined at Don Jose around 9 pm. After we were done eating, my mother had to bring my younger brother who’s 5 to the bathroom. A minute later, they both come out. I thought to myself, that was fast, but my thoughts were cut off when my mom had a pale face and said "We need to leave, now." Everyone at the table laughed, thinking my brother did something embarrassing. But then my mother proceeded to explain what happened; they were the only two in the bathroom and before they washed their hands my mother heard something. At first, she said it sounded like someone was shaking the toilet and after a few moments it flushed by itself. Keep in mind the toilets use the handles you push down to flush, not the censorship kind. My mother, freaked out, rushed out the bathroom with my brother. Everyone in our family already knew the place had something going on in it, so we weren’t too scared. But the table next to just so happened to over hear what happened, and a middle aged man said something similar happened to him but in the mens bathroom. He said the locks to the stall doors would unlock and lock, very loudly, and when he tried locking the door it felt like someone or something was holding it back from locking. Although it’s a nice restaurant, it seems some residents don’t enjoy the company of others. Not many people know about this, and to be honest I don’t think people will care. It’s not as if the entity or whatever is in the restaurant has harmed someone. Despite this, great restaurant. The quesadillas...
